  • Our Heart is Broken

    Funded May 23, 2018

The new carpet has changed the whole environment of our classroom. The old carpet was a dull gray color. It was not very inspiring or inviting. The bright colors of our new carpet lift our spirits as we walk into our room. It is hard to be sad when we look at our room now. We often use the carpet as an area of learning. The colorful squares help to protect our student's personal space. Everyone has their own spot. My old students come to visit and are delighted to see the room so bright and happy. Your donation has helped to encourage great learning in our room.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Grafton

  • Come On In and Take a Seat

    Funded May 11, 2018

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. My students absolutely love the ten new stacking stools. From the moment they arrived , my students have been so excited to use them.

First, they let more students sit together at a table. My students can use them at every table we have in our classroom. Second, the students even love to use them as their own personal table. Third, they are so light weight that the students can carry them anywhere they want in the room. Plus, their light weight makes it easy for my students to stack them on the tables on in one stack making clean up time so much easier. Finally, their bright colors add another element of interest in our classroom. We love our stools!!! Thanks again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Grafton

  • I Don't Want to Read Like a Robot

    Funded Feb 16, 2018

My class has so enjoyed the headsets you were kind enough to donate to us. As my students listen to themselves read, they are starting to see what I have been saying about how sad it is to read like a robot. I see improvement in their reading already. Also, these headsets are really helping a couple of my speech students improve their speech as well, because they can hear themselves read. As my students start to read with expression the books make more sense to them. Your gift has enhanced the learning in my classroom. Thank you so much.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Grafton

These headsets will make a real difference in teaching my students to read emergent books with expression and in turn help with comprehension. As they read both non-fiction and fiction books from a computer program they can listen to themselves read. As their teacher I can also go into the program and listen to how they read. These headsets will help them read with expression. Early readers tend to read like a robot as they decode words. With practice they can start to read as if they were just telling another person about the story. Please help my students build confidence in their reading.
