  • Hoop Stars

    Funded Feb 6, 2024

I want to thank you for the wonderful stress relievers you donated to our classroom. The basketball hoops have been used during breaks as well as for rewards. One of my students had this to say " The basketball hoop is fun to play with. The Nerf basketball hoop is not that fun to play with but it is so fun. It is so fun to play basketball in my classroom. I get to shoot around. For my break time I like to shoot around. It is fun to play basketball." So as you can see this has quickly become a treasure. We often get students from other classes asking if they can shoot a basket too. Thank you for your generosity.”

    Mrs. Anderson

  • LEGO Legends

    Funded Dec 30, 2023

My middle school Special Education classroom was lucky enough to be donated multiple LEGO sets by Donors Choose. My students are using legos as a strategy to regulate their emotions when they need a break from class work, and as a reward system when they meet their goals. When I asked one of my students their initial reaction to me introducing a LEGO set to him he said, "I was excited when you finally bought the lego police set I have been wanting, and I did packet number one right away." I remember him smiling, jumping with joy, and begging me how he can earn such a privilege. The next step me and my students have with this project is taking our creations apart so we can enjoy recreating them this next coming school year, and more to come. Thank you so much to all the donors who contributed to my classroom, we are forever grateful!”

  • Digging for Dogman

    Funded Dec 1, 2023

I want to share the words of one of my students.

"I love the Dogman books you gave us. They are fun and funny to read. Those are my favorite books. And I also love you can find pages and there's scenes even if I'm bored. I know I can read Dogman because it's just Super Duper! I'm very grateful for you for giving all of us so many books to read. I read it all the time when I have time. Or if I have time but I love the books overall. So thanks for giving us books because I love them so much"

As their teacher it makes me happy that my students are able to take the books out of the room and read with their friends. It's great when other students come to our room to borrow the Dogman books. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Anderson

  • Hibernating Hunger

    Funded Nov 17, 2023

The snacks and soup have been used on a daily basis. My students shared their thoughts. We are super grateful for what you gave us it was very helpful. I really appreciate the people who got us the snacks. Sometimes we get hungry or feel sick, we can eat the snacks. The cheez-its are my favorite. I like the Ritz. The rainbow goldfish has many different flavors, The green one tastes like spinach. The edamame beans are good. The mac and cheese is really good. It has nice flavor and I like the texture. So as you can see, these food choices have been appreciated and used. Thank you so much.”

  • Graphic Novel Gala

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

I can't believe the difference having these graphic novels has made. It has boosted confidence in so many of my students. They are able to choose a book and keep it with them while they are reading it. Being able to do that makes them like their general education peers. Having a selection of grahic novels enables the students to fully enjoy "silent reading time".

A great discussion happened after three of the students read the same Babymouse graphic novel. They realized on their own that friends had read it and began talking about it without adult direction or support.”

  • Book Blast!

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

These books are a great addition to our classroom. Middle school can be a very judgemental time and these books make just a bit less for my students. Having books that are at a low readability level but are interesting to middle school is so important. My students were so excited to see these books on the shelf. In fact one of my students was finally able to take a chapter book out of the classroom like her peers. This was a first for her and the look on her face when she realized she could read one of them was priceless. This couldn't have happened without you. Thank you for making her day.”

  • Organization Oasis

    Funded Oct 17, 2023

My students were so excited to see the large Amazon box arrive in my classroom. When we opened it, they immediately started calling out which color they wanted! I could not have been happier.

Each student was able to choose a pocket briefcase to use. With an adult's help the pockets were labeled and all the loose papers they had been carrying were put in the proper place. This has helped keep them organized as they attend their general education classes and get papers to take home and possibly return from their homeroom teacher.

By using these, my students have had less missing progress reports, more homework turned in on time and less lost permission slips.”

  • Ready Resources

    Funded Feb 9, 2023

It's always hard to imagine what will happen when the project funded allows me to purchase the needed resources from Teachers Pay Teachers. I was able to purchase several novel units to use with my middle school students. This allows them to fit in with their gen ed peers when they carry a novel with them too.

The gift cards were also used to individualize math instruction based on IEP objectives. Task cards were purchased and a Jenga style math game too. We had fun with those. This makes finding a new way to teach a repeated skill so much more fun to practice. I

It is because of donors like you that my students can succeed in school. Thank you for being so kind and generous.”

  • Eagle Bluff Here We Come, Part 4

    Funded Jan 19, 2023

The opportunities that this field trip allow our inner city students are immense. One Eof my favorite parts of the field trip happens after it is over. I love hearing the stories from "the forest". We climbed trees. I did a zipline! Everyone was cheering for me. Those are the words I hear months after the trip. Or the following year when the question "are we going to Eagle Bluff this year?" start on day ONE! The 8th grade students ask, the 7th grade students ask, the 6th grade students ask, and now our 5th grade students ask (and they have never been!). That is the impact this trip has. It allows our students to build community. It allows them to be caring learners. It allows them to experience new things like a campfire. And it all because of you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Anderson

We are the only third grade class in a small public charter school in Minnesota. The students live in an urban area and attend our Title One school. Many of them come from homes in poverty. They have an eagerness to learn and I want them to prosper.
