Children with special needs learn to interact and communicate with friends through play. In my classroom, we would like to play with games and toys to encourage social and communication skills. By adapting games, my students have the opportunity to learn concepts such as counting, colors, and matching while also learning to communicate with their friends. Using the large spinner, my students can participate in the game and take turns. Along with playing games, the switch toys encourage children to explore the concept of cause and effect. When the child plays with one of these toys using the switch, they can activate the toy independently. With turn taking, they can play with a friend, activating the toy, talking, and laughing with each other.
