Collage Explosion, Spark Our Pre-K Imaginations!
Funded Nov 18, 2019We have been learning about our families and homes. My students have used the materials to create their homes. Some of the materials like the magic strips were used for the walls of their homes. The mosaic tiles were used for windows. The students used their imagination and language skills are expanding as they describe what a home needs and which materials they need to represent the parts of the house.
Today some children were in the sand center. They told me they were having a party and they needed to make a cake. They used their language skills to describe baking a cake. Where is the flour. They picked up the sand and said this is the flour. Then they proceeded to rub the flour through the strainer sprinkling it around the sand table. They explained to me that the were rubbing the flour. I see You are sifting the flour. They now learned a new word.
It is absolutely amazing to see their imaginations spark and their excitement grow as they explore the new items in the classroom. We are so grateful to all our donors.”

Funded May 13, 2019We are now learning about growth and change. We have discussed and watched a tadpole metamorphosis into a frog, seeds grow into plants and caterpillars metamorphosis into butterflies. The children have been talking about how they have grown and changed this year and how they will continue to grow and change.
The dress up center has given them the opportunity to explore being a butterfly, spreading their wings and trying new things. They are using their imaginations to explore how it will feel to grow up and what they might want to be when they do.
It has been a great hands on learning activity.
They are really excited to use the dress up center. They now can see all the material at once. This gives them the opportunity to learn how to make choices. A very important skill they will continue to need as the grow and change.
Thank you so much for your generosity and continued support.”

Funded Dec 5, 2017The anticipation mounted as my students watched my aide and I put together our new water and sand table. They could not wait to play with the sand and water table. We are now in the middle of our winter unit. The students filled ice cube trays with water, we then put it in the freezer. The next day the students had a magical frozen adventure in our new sand and water table. They build igloos, ice sculptures and explored in amazement as the ice melted from a solid to a liquid. We are so excited and happy to continue to explore all different types of materials that will help us learn about the world around us. Thank you so much for your generosity and support of our classroom. We can not thank you all enough for all that you do for us. We greatly appreciate it. Thank you! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

Funded Jun 27, 2017Words alone can not begin to express our gratitude to you for all you have given us. Each time we receive something new in our classroom the whole room brightens up. We are very grateful for our new chairs. We are able to sit on them safely without falling or tipping them. They are very comfortable and help us concentrate on our activities. We are also so excited to get new cubbies. Now each of us have our own personal space to put our belongings. We are able to put our blankets, book bags and jackets neatly in our cubbies. This helps us prevent the spreading of germs. Thank you so much for all your support and helping us to have a safe and comfortable environment to learn in.”

Funded Jul 10, 2017Thank you so much to all of you who have graciously donated to this project. My students were so excited to receive the book display. They are already using it to discover new worlds as they read the books I have displayed on it. They are constantly reaching for new books to explore. The children's attention is drawn to the display which is eye level and just the right height. Their curiosity holds no bounds as they gaze in awe at all the interesting books. This gift will have an everlasting impression as they start their journey as readers. Thank you!”

Funded Sep 27, 2016My students were so happy to receive the light tablet. They began using it right away. They were amazed at the light shining through the different colors. They are already experimenting with making different colors by placing yellow and red squares on top of each other and watching the light shine through to create orange.
One of my boys turned it on and off. He pointed to the light and said, "Look, Mrs. Blaustein, light." He them pressed his face to the board trying to figure out how light can be shining out of it.
Pre-K is such a wonderful and exciting year. We spend a lot of time exposing the children to new and exciting worlds as we began to expand their horizons. We are now learning about healthy habits and eating properly. The children are cooking many different foods in our dramatic play center and building restaurants in the block center. Our mothers have graciously volunteered to cook a dish from their culture to share with us.
Thank you again for your generosity and helping to make learning fun.”
