These books will help jump start a classroom library for my middle school students. As a first year teacher, I came into my classroom with no library or books to help support my students' learning. Books like "A Young People's History of the United States" and "Dark Sky Rising: Reconstruction and the Dawn of Jim Crow" will help the students learn about the difficult history that is often over-looked. My students are eager to develop a well-rounded, yet critical view of the past. The books and instructional supports in this project are essential to help my students continue their curiosity and further develop their historical thinking skills. It is essential for them to learn about history through multiple perspectives in order to develop a better understanding of the world around them.
