We are requesting wobble stools, pedal exercisers, and chair bands to expand their alternative seating options. This project would expand seating choices in my classroom to include wobble stools, chair bands and pedal exercisers. The wobble stools have a curved base and are designed for students to be able to tip their seats in a safe way. Chair bands attach to the legs of traditional chairs. Children are able to move their legs while they work and the tension of the band against their feet can help relieve anxiety or frustration. Perhaps the most exciting addition to our classroom would be the pedal exercisers. They fit under student desks and allow them to pedal quietly during class.
Physical activity increases blood to the brain, helping students learn better and be more productive. I aim to provide students many opportunities for movement throughout the day. My requested materials would provide healthy outlets for their energy during the times they are working at their seats.
