Bringing 3D Printing and STEAM Into the Art Room
Funded Oct 23, 2019The opportunity you have afforded my students is truly amazing. Technology is so important in today's learning environment and the 3D printers have proven to be quite the exciting and innovative step into designing. My students are learning to create, design and take charge of their projects. As young artists they are learning the importance of the real world connection of works of art and everyday objects.
The best part of this experience for me as their teacher, is watching how excited they get about the ability to design something on a computer and then transfer their design to the printer. It is an ongoing learning process for us all. Many students have never seen a printer like this and here they are eager to design and print, so eager that they arrive early in the morning to log-on to the laptops and work on their creations.
One of the most significant impacts of the availability of the printers is that students of all learning styles and needs WANT to participate. This project brings an opportunity for all students to feel accomplished. This is one truly amazing project which promises to bring many more great experiences. Thank you so very much!!”

Funded Nov 29, 2017My students have been eagerly creating drawings and paintings based on their observations thanks to the availability of the document camera. The camera has allowed my students to see and share their work with their peers simultaneously.
The biggest challenge was connecting the camera. Once we had it connected they all wanted to try it out. Many of my students had never seen a document camera much less used one. During our first exploration of the possibilities, students studied Van Gogh. They enjoyed sharing the illustrations found in books with the rest of the class. Some tried to project their hands, pencils, etc. just to see what they could project (lots of giggles were heard).
Another example of how my students have been busy drawing pictures, coloring, and painting art pieces was the creations of "living organism" as seen through the camera. Their colorful reproductions are truly amazing.
Our next adventures will surely be a lot more fun for my students thanks to your generosity. Now that we have a classroom document camera the doors to creating have opened a bit further.”

Funded Nov 29, 2017My students have been busy creating and building three-dimensional structures thanks to your donation. It has been and incredibly energetic week as they experimented with their building kits and created amazing buildings and structures. As a continuation of their exploration, students learned to draw their designs using diagonal lines to create depth in their designs.
My students were excited to open their boxes and begin their buildings. At first, you could hear the questions on how to use the building links. Within minutes the teams were busy helping one another to add walls, second and third floors, and roofs. Collaboration at its best!
Next on our plans for our building kits is to create a cityscape by combining the teams' buildings and then drawing them as "their" city. A great collaboration of buildings, ideas, and design made possible by your generosity.”
