  • Wiggle While We Work!

    Funded Jan 13, 2020

Thank you very much for taking interest in my classroom! It means so much to have the support of the community involved in our learning and growth. Also, would like to thank companies who provide funding activities. These opportunities let my students be a part of the funding process and work hard for their projects!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Paloma

  • Freedom to Be Flexible Part 2

    Funded Jan 15, 2019

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous donation to fund more flexible seating options in our fourth grade classroom. We are using the wobble cushions, seat cushions, and seat donuts at student's desks and at our carpet area during whole groups or independent work times. They are much more comfortable while learning! Students are learning what type of seating they prefer for learning over other kinds of seating, it has been a great experience for us!

When students discovered that our project got funded they were so excited! We really worked together to fund this project for our class through activities to earn gift cards. Once the materials arrived as a community we decided on a rotation schedule and guidelines on how to treat this new type of seating that is a privilege to have.

These new additional kinds of seating have allowed student to explore their needs and focus more in the classroom. They are having fun discovering what helps them be more focus and have self awareness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Paloma

  • More Books, Por Favor!

    Funded Nov 19, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donation to fund more Spanish books in our fourth grade classroom library. We are using the books in our library and at home. They are very popular books that will fill in and update our library. As a dual immersion classroom it is so important to have Spanish books of all kinds that continue to spark the classroom's love of learning.

When students discovered that our project got funded they were so excited! We really worked together to fund this project for our class; completing gift card activities, and spreading the word. Their love of reading fueled this project. Once the books arrived as a community we decided guidelines on how to treat these books, how they'd be organized, and a check-out system for them.

These new Spanish books have allowed student to explore authentic and translated Spanish text in several forms; picture, chapter, and comic books. Also, the students have the opportunity to take these books home so that they can enjoy them with their families.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Paloma

  • A Place for Everyone Classroom Carpet

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

The fourth graders at El Puente Bilingual school cannot thank you enough for your generous donation to support their classroom. The carpet, A Place for Everyone, has made a our classroom a better place to learn. Our project was funded during Spring Break, I didn't have a chance to share the exciting news with them until they got back. When they returned they were pleasantly surprised with a brand new classroom carpet! They absolutely loved it! As a community we sat on our new carpet and came up with norms on how we would treat this new gift in our classroom. They make sure their shoes are not dirty before going on the carpet, and they sweep it every afternoon!

Our classroom has enjoyed this new space provided by our new carpet. The designated squares ensure that everyone has a spot and there is not confusion on where someone would be. Since receiving the carpet we have used it as a space for our community meeting, math instruction, reading groups, and independent work .

Students love our new carpet because the spots are big enough for them to sit in comfortably. It provides adequate room for others to see around them and work. Also, they enjoy the different colors, going from dark to light. The class is currently undergoing state testing and our carpet has become a great, welcoming space to give our minds and body a break!

Fourth grade El Puente would like to thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for supporting our classroom, you rock!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Paloma

With the use of the classroom carpet, A Place for Everyone, my student will be able to sit comfortably and enjoy a variety of activities. The activities that they will sit at the carpet for include; community circle, independent work, small groups, reading instruction, mathematics instruction and writing in their journals. This rugs allows for students to have spaces that encourage students to keep bodies to themselves and make positive choices. Their current community space does not have designated areas that are large enough for each student to sit comfortably. Sitting in their own space gives them maximum opportunity to fully engaged in the lesson or activity at hand.
