My students and I are very grateful for your generous donation. We will use these books as our tools and weapons to break language barriers. My students will definitely enjoy reading and improving their vocabulary with all the books that were donated to us. Thank you so much for everything.”

  • Reading Is "La Vie"

    Funded Jan 7, 2025

The books that we have read so far , especially for level 2 are a bit more challenging or nuanced, help students develop their ability to think critically. This not only builds comprehension skills but also strengthens their ability to express ideas, both verbally and in writing.

In my classroom, reading might look like a rich environment for vocabulary development, where students actively engage with new words, looking them up in context, and using them in discussions or writing exercises.

In terms of students who are especially enjoying the new books, I would say students who might have a particular interest in the themes or genres being explored often gravitate toward the texts.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Shantal Mclaughlin

  • Savory Crepe

    Funded Dec 5, 2024

When we introduced the new crepe-making materials, my students' eyes lit up with excitement! They couldn't wait to dive into the project. We decided to turn it into a cross-curricular lesson. For example, we explored the history and cultural significance of crepes in French cuisine. Then, we tackled measurements and conversion while preparing the batter. Watching their curiosity and engagement grow was truly heartwarming.

One memorable moment was when we had the 'Crepe Party.' Each student got to flip a crepe, and there was a lot of cheering and laughter as they perfected their technique. It became a fun and interactive way for them to learn about French culture and culinary arts.

As for our next steps, we're diving into a project on Mardi Gras. The students will research the history and traditions of Mardi Gras, create masks and costumes, and even plan a mini Mardi Gras parade in the classroom. They'll learn about the significance of colors, the history of the festival, and the cultural celebrations in various parts of the world. It's an exciting way to combine creativity, research, and hands-on activities.

I can't wait to see their enthusiasm and creativity shine through in this new project!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Shantal Mclaughlin
