My counseling students and I simply can not thank you enough for funding our project. We are humbled and grateful for your support. My therapy room has come alive with the abundance of materials you've been kind enough to provide us with.
Some of my students are tactile learners and love using the kinetic sand when engaging in conversations and other counseling tasks and activities, or when they're feeling stressed or are experiencing other "negative" emotions; I have students who are far more expressive with art and are happy to have an easel and art materials to use to comfortably express themselves; and I also have students who prefer play therapy and have responded positively to our new social-emotional board games.

Social emotional learning is crucial to help prepare students to succeed in school and beyond. This diverse set of materials will help my students effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve healthy goals, feel and exhibit empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. As education professor Linda Darling-Hammond succinctly put, “I have no doubt that the survival of the human race depends at least as much on the cultivation of social and emotional intelligence, as it does on the development of technical knowledge and skills. Most educators believe that the development of the whole child is an essential responsibility of schools, and this belief is what has motivated them to enter the profession.”
