Working with Comfortability!
Funded Sep 11, 2023Our most greatest gratitude to you for your kindness and for helping make classrooms a better learning environment that suits the needs of every student. My students have benefited from our new resources in many different ways. A couple weeks ago, we transformed our classroom into a construction zone to learn about Area and Perimeter for our Mathematics Unit. My students used the clipboards during each learning rotation and were able to solve math problems in a comfortable way. They enjoyed every moment of our activity and the items donated to our classroom made their learning experience an exceptional one.
My students' reactions were amazing when they spotted the comfy floor chairs around the classroom. They immediately set off to try them out and fell in love with them. The comfy seats allow them to move around the classroom in an area of their preference when working on reading or math educational programs on their computers or when reading books independently.
Our next project for this year is the transformation of our classroom and hallway into "Christmas Around the World" to celebrate this special time of the year. In this unit, students will be able to explore different traditions of people around the world and compare and contrast the way they celebrate Christmas with the rest of the world. Our classroom it's filled with lots of opportunities to learn to reach success during our continuous journey!
Once again, thank you for your enduring belief in our mission as educators. With supporters like you by our side, we remain confident and motivated in our journey of raising an educated generation.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Toro

Funded Mar 24, 2018• How are you and your students using the new resources? Share a specific classroom project or moment.
Seating on a regular chair can create discomfort in a person's body, especially when seating takes over a longer period. This is the case of students in a classroom environment. So, the wobble stools funded by your company or your giving heart allows my student's knees, hips and back to rest in comfortable, ever-changing positions. Additionally, they are ideal for supporting my high-energy students that like to wiggle in their seats. Seating on wobble chairs seemed to have a calming effect allowing my students to focus on learning. It also provides me with extra space on my teacher table, since its measurements are considerably small when compare to regular classrooms chairs. Another resource that was added to our learning environment was the extra storage bins. These durable plastic bins make it super-easy to store and organize our classroom library by reading levels. Since my classroom is a Bilingual class I have students in different readings levels, so the colored-bins provides me with a code for each grade level.
• How did your students react when they first saw the materials?
My students' reactions at first with the wobble chairs were skeptical because the chair's design have a look for younger kids, but after trying them, they were amazingly happy with this new feature in our classroom. They described the chairs as fun to sit on, wiggly, and comfortable. Equally, my students were fascinated with the colored-bins because it makes it easy for them to identify a book that is their prefect fit. We are very pleased with this project and very, very thankful!
• Your donors got a little peek into your classroom by contributing to your project, and we know that they'd love to learn more. What are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?
Our classroom is on the greatest project of learning English as a second language. At the moment, we are ready to escalate into our third stage of Second Language Acquisition. In this stage named Speech Emergence, my students will be able to communicate with simple sentences when speaking and writing. They will ask simple questions, that may or may not be grammatically correct. ELLs will also initiate short conversations with classmates. They will understand easy stories read in class with the support of pictures and they will also be able to do some content work with teacher support. A big mountain is ahead of us but like Dr. Seuss says in one of his quotes that I share with my kiddos always: The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”

Funded Feb 19, 2018I believe education is about fostering a love of learning, not just as a means to an end, but as an indulgence of an innate curiosity that lies at the heart of human nature. We are a remarkable species with the ability to think beyond ourselves and constantly looking for a new adventure. But where does this adventure come from? It begins with the art of reading and listening to stories. Books and stories provide our children with the ability to dream and think about the future. Reading also allows our students to learn about challenges in life and how to cope with them through their favorite characters. Moreover, reading allows us to teach our students about how to answer questions about themselves and the world around them.
In my classroom reading has many forms. During whole group instruction, I'm teaching my students reading comprehension skills and how these connect to the real world and everyday experience. It's important for students to understand that we read to learn about many topics, but fundamentally, we read to better comprehend how situations transpire and how they are resolved. Once students learned about a topic they can connected with science, social studies and even mathematics. They put it all together!
I have different reading levels in my classroom but they all love to read. I recently received multiple new students from Puerto Rico and they are very excited about all the books that are available for them to read and take home. Reading has become his new adventure and has taken their minds off of tragedy. Another student whose reading level was at pre-kindergarten level is now enjoying reading at a third grade level. Reading is the new trend in Ms. Toro's classroom.
On behalf of my students and myself I want to express our sincerest appreciation for the donation your company has recently made for our classroom environment.”
