  • Help Me, Help Them with Professional Development at NSTA

    Funded Feb 27, 2017

Thank you so very much for allowing me to attend the NSTA conference. It motivated me to do so much more for my students by giving me phenomenal ideas and techniques to use in my classroom. I cannot begin to express my appreciation. It truly makes me feel that people care about my students and respect the hard work it takes to be an educator for these amazing young adolescents. The conference featured the latest materials and technology available and allowed me to gain a greater insight about how to teach science by incorporating the technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.

The best part of the national conference was seeing STEM ideas in action. One of the workshops I attended showed me how to incorporate building solar ovens into my weather unit. I was able to try it out this year and my students never had more fun and it empowered their learning, which led to greater understanding of the concepts.

Again, thank you all so much for your generous donation that allowed me to grow professionally as an educator. Thank you, thank you, thank you! It is greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lu

  • Look At Our Work!

    Funded Mar 22, 2017

Thank you so much for generously donating to our project. The difference supplies make is a amazing. The work they turn in and the excitement they get from each project is an incredible experience for the students and me. When students went around taking pictures of our STEAM night, they were so excited to be little photographers. What excited them even more was the ownership in learning and creating an experience that these materials allowed for them to experience this.

I cannot begin to express how truly grateful I am.”

    Ms. Lu

  • Scholastic Magazines for All!

    Funded Mar 2, 2017

Having content relevant materials is so important for students to gain a greater interest in learning. Scholastic magazines allow for students to be well informed about the world around them, especially in the sciences. Science changes every single day and its important to me that my students understand the changes because they will apart of the changes that have yet to come.

Students do monthly article summaries that allow for greater learning experiences. They are able to build upon their new ideas and come up with even greater ones.

Thank you for providing us with reading materials that are relevant to their lives!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lu

  • Take a Picture of our STEM Kits

    Funded Mar 1, 2017

Thank you so much for donating to this project! STEM/STEAM is such an important interdisciplinary learning experience for students. At such a young age, exposing them to a world of STEM will hopefully making a lasting impression for a life time. My students could not believe all the fun stuff the boxes had inside. They were working on some of these projects for weeks! They could not get enough of it. The robots were the biggest hit! I was able to see the engineers inside of them develop in such a short time.

    Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

  • Targeting Gardening for Healthy Eating!

    Funded Sep 21, 2016

Thank you so much for the gardening tools! Watching my students build a garden from start to end was the best part of the year. When I pulled out new gardening gloves for every student, they were so thrilled. They couldn't wait to wear them and go start the garden.

It was such a pleasure to see the students research, discuss and present what fruits and vegetables they wanted to grow in our garden. When they were ready to get gardening, they knew exactly what to do. Over the summer, students are going to go care to the garden on their own time and I was able to see the leadership skills blossom through this project-- thanks to all of you!

    Thank you again!”

  • Let's Get Silently Active!

    Funded Aug 12, 2016

Thank you so much for generously donating to this project! The headphones are such a great hit with my students. They absolutely loved it. When the box arrived, they were so curious. Before we opened the box, I explained to them that this would be something to keep them silently active. They thought we were going to be writing another essay. Then, I pulled out the headphones and their eyes lit up! I told them we were going to have a silent dance party and you wouldn't believe how excited they were. Even the shiest students got up and danced. It was comical and fun for them to see each other moving and grooving.

Being active is so important for students and with these headphones I have been able to provide them with a space to do just that. Thank you so much!”

  • We Need Batteries to Keep Going..and Going...and Going...

    Funded Feb 9, 2017

Thank you so much for generously donating to this project! Batteries are so important to keeping our technology working. We were able to power our clickers, robotic markers and so much more.

When my students went to pick up the package with me, they were so excited to open the box. When they saw the batteries, they asked me why? Then, one student enthusiastically shouts "my clickers been dead, I need 3 batteries for it!" They immediately started going around the room to replace the batteries of all the things that needed replacement. It was so exciting to see them so thrilled for such a simple thing. They knew it was the key to powering their learning!

Thank you again for all your help in making this project come to life!”

  • Science Supplies for Laboratory Learning

    Funded Feb 6, 2017

With students being surrounded by technology, learning has become challenging to keep them interested every single day. With these supplies, students get excited to create colorful charts, build diagrams, work in groups while discussion academic topics, and so much more. My students love that they can highlight in 4 different colors for their annotations and express how much easier it is for them to learn this way.

When my students helped carried the boxes to our room, they were so excited to open them up and discover that all these materials were for them. They all wanted to be the first one to try each thing. I am so excited to be able to provide my students with nothing but the best.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lu

  • When, Oh When, Can We Have a 3D Printing Pen?

    Funded Jan 27, 2017

Thank you all so much! Being at the forefront of technology is opening a world of possibilities for my students. They love that we have a class set of 3D pens and cannot stop asking to use them. With so many different strands of color and an array of designs to be created, my students' creativity is never ending.

I am so happy to be able to provide my students with the "coolest" materials and I am exposing them to new career possibilities. So far, students have been using the 3D pens to create monuments and using it as a hot glue gun for sticking their designs together.

    Again, thank you!!”

  • I Can See Clearly Now... With Warby Parker!

    Funded Dec 22, 2016

I cannot begin to express my gratitude to all of you for making this project possible. One of the most challenging parts of teaching is having students struggle because they cannot clearly see the board. As much as they want to try, their vision makes them fall behind. As the year progressed, it became more and more heartbreaking that so many students walk around without being able to see clearly-- and most of them do not even realize what clear vision is!

When my students showed up to get their eyes examined, they were so excited to see glasses on the table. With over 20 pairs to choose from, every child was excited to try them all on! Most of my students that were tested needed glasses so being the one to help them choose made the event so rewarding. I watched 3 young gentlemen shake hands with the doctor because they were so grateful for someone taking the time to help them. They told me that this was the first time they ever saw an optometrist and one even said he wanted to be one when he grows up so he can give children glasses.

Thank you so much for making this project come alive for these well deserving students. You have changed their lives for the better and I cannot thank you all enough.

    THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lu
