A Place For Everything, and Everything In Its Place!
Funded Aug 23, 2017My students have had time now to use all of the materials your generous donation helped us purchase, and I am pleased to report that they are making a big difference!! They were particularly excited to see the word books, which are a handy resource for spelling words that are used frequently when writing. Each student received their own book and we've been able to personalize the books to meet their needs by adding in words that are most relevant for them. One of my 5th grade students even pulled out his book during math to write in "numerator" and "denominator" because he knew he would be expected to write explanations using these words on his homework that day. It's encouraging to see students use strategies that support their learning and I'm so pleased that I am able to give them some tools to help them along the way.
Thank you once again for supporting teachers in enhancing the learning experience in ways that will meet the needs of our diverse populations, especially when resources are limited at individual school sites. Please consider giving again in the future!”
With gratitude,

Funded Sep 14, 2016Your generous donation has made such a difference for my students! Young people who struggle to learn benefit from a variety of charts and visuals that illustrate vocabulary and concepts, and by the time they get to upper elementary many of the texts they read do not provide the support they need. Having a printer and lots of ink has allowed me to print colorful reference guides for their classroom and homework folders, booklets for reading practice with full-color illustrations, and pictures that support vocabulary development.
Even more exciting for my students is having the ability to print their own writing, which helps them know what it feels like to be a "real" author! Many of their writing assignments are published using Word or Google Docs and PowerPoint applications. Students are super motivated when they can add captions and illustrations in full color, and those who might be reluctant to share handwritten work with their peers are proud to present their finished products now.
Matthew, one of my students with Autism, is especially grateful for this new resource. He responds really well to visuals that are vibrant and engaging, so being able to print resources whenever he needs them in the classroom is helping him reach his true potential. Without support form donors like you, our classroom would not be as special or as inviting as we'd like it to be. So, thank you from all of us!”
