Help Give Financial Literacy to New Immigrants
Funded Apr 27, 2015I apologize that it has taken me so long to send you a formal thank-you for your generous donations to my financial literacy project. I assure you that my tardiness is no indication of how greatly appreciated your donations are by me and my students.
In the attached photos you can see my students learning in small groups about matters of personal finance, using the software and research materials you provided. They also learned basic principles of personal finance through playing "The Game of Life"--a big hit for high school seniors who love to compete playfully with one another.
This unit was one of my students' favorites last year and will continue to be part of my curriculum this year and for years to come. Your contributions made this unit possible--you have helped me teach my students to be thoughtful about how they spend, save, and invest their money. This will have a lasting impact on their lives.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ford
Prepare My Students for the Game of Life
Funded Apr 7, 2015I apologize for how long it has taken me to thank you for the donation you made to my class on Donors Choose--please know how much your donation meant (and means) to my students!
From the photos I'm attaching, you can see how much my students loved playing "The Game of Life." They had the best time learning about matters of personal finance while competing against each other in a fun way. I will definitely use this game every year when I teach personal finance. The students love it, and it's a great dynamic way for them to learn!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ford
Help Make My Classroom More Interactive
Funded Sep 19, 2014I apologize that this thank-you card has been so long in the coming. Right after your generous donations funded all of my classroom projects, I began an extended medical leave of absence from the classroom.
But please do not let my delinquency in any way get in the way of my--and my students--genuine gratitude to you for giving my class the gift of a giant whiteboard, wall decorations about the US government, and numerous other materials that have made government a much more tangible concept for my newly-immigrated students.
The photos I have uploaded show you how the students themselves installed the 12' x 4' whiteboard on the wall: yes, power tools were involved!
The students also created a wall-size flowchart of the three branches of government, which now stares down at them each day in class.
I hope that you all can come and visit our classroom in person some day. Your generosity has really helped create a much more cheerful and inspiring room.
My students and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ford
