Eagles Pride Cafe
Funded Oct 22, 2024Thank you so very much for donating to our Eagles Pride Coffee Cart! We began running deliveries the Friday before our Fall Break and (weather dependent) have ran a weekly dilvery each week since our return. The students love putting the orders into baggies as they comein throughout the week, making the cups of joy on Friday mornings, and the quick conversations they engage in with the other staff members throughout the building. We have a color coded system for all of our supplies and the students are fully taking responsibility of placing the desired items in each customers package. Students are learning to use different modes of communication to best fit their needs as they hand off the packages to the customers. Some students are taking this project a step further and honing their math skills as we sort, count, and find the value of our earnings each week. Everyone looks forward to Fridays now thanks to your generous donation.”

Eagles Pride Cafe
Funded Aug 9, 2018I am amazed at the overwhelming excitement in my classroom about our new business! I can not thank you enough for your support in helping me make this opportunity a success for my students.
The students are totally taking on responsibility in preparation for Coffee Fridays. They are self monitoring their behavior throughout the day so that they are able to work in the coffee shop each afternoon. We set up all of the color coded bins, labeled all of the K-Cups and creamer cups, and then sorted them out so that our workspace is well organized. The students have been trained in filling the orders using the color code system. They have also been trained using visual pictures and verbal prompts to use a Keurig from start to finish.
The students were very curious at first when they saw all of the coffee supplies coming out of the boxes but once I told them what the supplies were for, some of them immediately started repeating "Welcome to Starbucks!" We reworded our greeting with a visual checklist for students to use appropriate communication skills while delivering the coffee and they were even more excited to be handing the order to a customer of their very own.
Our goals moving forward are to foster even more independence with task completion, improve our coin counting skills, as well as our independent communication skills when approaching unfamiliar adults. We will be working this year towards adding a baked goods treat option to our Eagle's Pride Cafe cart as the school year progresses.
Thank you again so very much for helping us achieve this dream of having a real life, functional project that will hopefully have lifelong implications for all of my students. We are truly showing our Eagle Pride.”
With gratitude,
