Small Bites for Big Brains
Funded Jan 18, 2024I wanted to take the time to truly thank you for your donation to our classroom. Because of your kindness and generosity, our students are motivated and their bellies are full! When they come to after-school tutoring, they used to feel down and needed something to cheer them up and encourage them to keep learning. The snacks that we got help to bring them to tutoring each day with a smile and ready to learn!
We get back to the classroom after dismissal and let the students pick their snack for the afternoon. The students have time to eat their snack, relax in some quiet time and speak with classmates. The students love to choose different snacks each day and sharing with their friends too.
We are extremely grateful to know there are people like you that support our classroom and we want you to know that we appreciate your donation!
Thank you!”

Ms. Barron
Snacks for Smarties
Funded Dec 2, 2022We are so thankful for our snacks to keep us motivated throughout the day! We have avoided being hungry during the school day and used them in the afternoons before we start tutoring! The students were ecstatic when they saw box after box being delivered with the snacks for our room! We organized all of the snacks and now students have many different options when it is snack time.
We even got to celebrate "Popcorn Lovers Day" with the popcorn that was bought because of your donation! Thank you so much for helping classrooms like ours. My students and I are extremely lucky to have people in our community, near and far that contribute to our class and our success.
Thank you for helping to fund, "Snacks for Smarties!"”

Snacks for Smart Kiddos!
Funded Mar 30, 2022I cannot thank you enough for the wonderful donation you made to our classroom. The students have been thrilled during each tutoring session to be able to choose from so many snacks. It definitely has helped to motivate them and keep them energized throughout the day.
When the students first saw all of the snacks, it was like I opened a box of gold! They were amazed with the choices they had. They kept asking, "who donated this to our class?" and, "how did they know we needed snacks?" They are extremely thankful that there are donors like you to give so much to our class.
I guess it really was like opening a box of gold because the chocolate gold coins have motivated them to complete their work for chocolatey treats like that. They LOVE having that as their little "sweet treat" at the end of the day. Thank you again for donating to our class and putting a huge smile on my face and the students' faces!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Barron
Mathematicians and Scientists in the Making!
Funded May 4, 2021Our class has had so much fun exploring with these new materials! They really have become mathematicians and scientists because of your generous donation. When we first starting using the beakers and graduated cylinders, one student called out, "Wow, I feel like a scientist pouring the liquid to measure!" Your donation has even changed their mindset on themselves!
When I pulled out the materials for the first time and talked about our first measurement lab, it was almost dead silence! They were amazed... The students LOVE having materials that are so hands-on and allow them to explore. Before I could even show the geo-boards, another student had seen them and was so excited because he loves building things on a geo-board.
I really cannot thank you enough for contributing to our classroom. My students and I feel extremely lucky to know that there are people like YOU willing to help us out. We hope to continue learning, growing and exploring with help from people like you. Thank you so much!”

Funded Oct 29, 2020Where do I begin? These books have brought such joy to our classroom! We first started with the novel, "The One and Only Ivan" and the students were so excited with this. From the moment they put their hands on the brand new books and even until now, they haven't stopped talking about it. While reading this novel, we were able to explore the differences between good zoos and bad zoos and talked about feelings and the meaning of belonging. It was also such a great way to incorporate science and social studies into the lessons. Because we also got a CD recording of the book, we could play the CD and follow along with our books. We were even sent home to do Online School and "The One and Only Ivan" saved us! We were able to continue with this novel and keep normalcy until we returned back.
We have now started "Wishtree" and the students are just as in love! Again, getting their hands on the brand new books is the highlight of their year! "Wishtree" touches on a lot of important topics like racism and intolerance and are allowing us to have deeper conversations in the classroom. We will be creating a collage of intolerance versus tolerance when we finish. These are life lessons that are being taught with the books you have donated!
The students see the other books donated and keep asking when we are going to start! I have to keep reminding them, after we finish the one we are currently reading! Most of the students don't want to let the books go back in storage when we finish. I am truly thankful for people like you that see the value in education and reading. Our classroom is always grateful!!”

Funded Nov 6, 2019The donation you made to our classroom has gone a long way. We received the books for our bilingual students and their faces lit up. Since many of my students come from different countries and speak Spanish as their first language, getting a book in their native language was truly a gift.
Once we added the books to our classroom library, the students were practically lining up to get a copy. I have allowed the students to read the books independently or paired up with a friend. They get to sit back in our little library, relax and enjoy a story. When working with students that speak a different native language than English, it is important to maintain their native language and allowing them to read books that are enjoyable in their native language make this possible. Before your donation, some students were often frustrated that there weren't enough books in Spanish for them to choose from, but they have no frustrations anymore.
Two students even paired up together, one with the book in Spanish and one in English. They read a page together in Spanish and then the English version so they hear both languages. One student has already taken three of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books home to read over winter break. You have changed the lives of my students and your donation is greatly appreciated in our room!”

Creating Light From Darkness: Educating & Remembering the Holocaust
Funded May 6, 2019I cannot put into words how thankful I am for people like you! Your generosity is changing the lives of our students. These books are going to help teach history to the students, but also compassion to humankind. The Holocaust is a tough topic to talk about, but that is what makes it so important. It is critical that we teach our young generation and inspire them to make changes and stand up for what is right.
This is even more exciting for our students because this is the first novel that we read as a class. All of them have read alone, but doing it as a class is so much better. When each student got their book for the day, they treated it like it was gold! They kept asking to take the novel home because they could not put it down.
Each day we would read together in our little library and then finally they wanted to read with partners. On the last day of school, students reflected on the school year and wrote down different "favorites" from this year. When asked what their favorite book was, they all wrote down, "Number the Stars." Thank you again for your donation, I am so thankful that you took interest in our class this school year!”

Funded Apr 7, 2019I would like to thank you again for your donation. My students and I are so thankful that there are people like you in the world that are willing to help our class succeed. You are a huge reason that these students are learning to their full potential.
These new Chrome Books for our class have helped us in so many ways! I will give you a few examples of how you have helped our class. First, our group projects are now able to be done in small groups! The students have constantly been begging me to make groups smaller when we do projects, but I was never able to until you came to us. They are so excited to start these research projects in such small groups. Another example of how your donations have helped us is with my English Language Learners that are now completing exercises to practice English. They are able to use the Chrome Books to take about 15-20 minutes in the morning to practice these skills. Many of the students in my school do not have access to computers at home so these are so important!
Each day when I pull the laptops out in class, the students stop what they are doing and stare! They are mesmerized with the Chrome Books and it is so exciting to see them. They have been telling me what the laptops have to offer because they are exploring them every day. Again, I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and donation to our classroom- You are the reason our future generation is succeeding!!”

Funded Aug 6, 2018I cannot say thank you enough times for what you have added to our classroom. The books and supplies arrived the second week of school and when I introduced them to the students, all I could hear were gasps, "wow," and cheering! My students were so excited to being reading their new Dr. Seuss books. We have already read many of the books as a class and are even starting a "March Madness" style competition for our favorite Dr. Seuss books.
I have used these books so far to introduce my students to the school year, show them rhyming words, and also to teach theme. I have been able to incorporate a Dr. Seuss book for almost every new topic that we are discussing. These books are so important for all of my students. I have many ESOL students that are just learning English this year and they love the books and read with partners. The illustrations also help them while listening to someone read the book. I also have students that find dictionaries to learn what words in the stories mean, they can't get enough of these books!
When my students come into class, they have a "bell ringer," which is something that they answer right when they walk in. When they finish that, they are able to get a book from the class library and read until the timer goes off. When the timer goes off and my students need to put their Dr. Seuss books back, the class is filled with, "awwwwww." I have had to take the books out of students desks because they want to keep them to themselves to finish. You have no idea the impact that you have had on my students. My students and I are so thankful that there are donors that care for our class!”

Ms. Barron
