I'm a teacher at a Title 1 school. Our school is part of an urban district in the state of Florida and 90+% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. I work to support teachers with the interest of improving student achievement. One of my goals as coach is to introduce teachers to various strategies to engage students and increase motivation.
Introducing teachers to technology tools can take student achievement to the next level. Students enjoy exploring on their own which makes programming ideal. Coding allows students to practice skills that will prepare them for 21st century careers. Students will acquire skills like collaboration, critical thinking , communication and creativity. As students work in teams to build and program robots, they will be engaged in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities that will translate into improvements in academic achievement.
