My students are thoughtful and have a desire to learn. My school is a Title I inner city school in Los Angeles. My school is located in a high poverty neighborhood in which most parents speak very little English. Many of my students participate in the after school program 5 days a week. My class consists of Latino and Asian students who are developing the English Language by having a desire to learn. They come to a school environment that promotes literacy and college readiness. They understand that in order to succeed they must read everyday. I want to provide the skills needed to become life long readers by exposing them to a selection of grade level books that will spark their interest to continue to read. My class has an active imagination and the will to succeed in school. I know that exposing them to books they can read will allow them to grow as readers and writers so they can be prepared for the future and have a love for reading and everlasting success as they grow.
