Statistics in the Real World!
Funded Dec 5, 2023Thank you for your kind and generous donations. Statistics is the most applicable math and what better way to teach it than with hands on material. Each day we are gathering data, organizing data, and analyzing the data.
We used the dice and cards to simulate different scenarios. A few examples : a project we used was to find out 1 in 6 wins bottle caps wins we can roll a dice to see how likely a winner would occur in 30 picks. We used playing cards to figure out how many times would we win if we had to get two of the same card. We even used the cards and dice for "casino" day to figure out the odds of different games that were being played. We will continue to use these materials as the year goes on for different simulated projects to gather data.
Once again my students and I are thankful and blessed by your generosity!”

Ms. Cook
Statistics Rock!
Funded Dec 28, 2022Thank you for your generous donations. The students have been using the review books for the last couple months. Because we start later than most schools across America we have to catch up before May 4.
The students used the books over the breaks to start reviewing the units that we have already learned and to refresh their memory and skills. Now that we are in review mode we are using the book to take practice tests. We have many free response questions to pull from on the college board website but we are more limited in our multiple choice questions. This book allows the students to do both!
Again we cannot thank you again for your kind hearts. We appreciate that you have supported our class and we hope to do well on the exam in a week!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Cook
Statistical Minds
Funded Dec 10, 2021We are grateful for the donations your provided for our classroom. I have two AP statistics classes, one sophomore class and one senior class. AP Statistics is not usually offered to sophomores and it is only the second time it is being offered here at our school. It is a great opportunity for the sophomores to get early college credit.
There are many obstacles that face our students. Last year most kids were remote and being back in person has taken some time to get used to. In New York we do not start school until September but many schools start in August. The exam this year is being given a week earlier than usual which shortens the amount of time that students have to learn all the material. We also only have a single period for class. With these review books the students can practice as well as study the material on their own at home. The practice exams in the back of the book can also help the students prepare for what the exam looks like and they can practice time management for the exams.
My sophomores are taking an AP class for the first time and any added resource they can have will benefit them greatly. They will be using the book in class and outside to foster their statistical minds :)”

Ms. Cook
Pioneers of the AP Statistics World!
Funded Jul 20, 2018My students and I cannot thank you enough for your generous hearts and donations. We were so pleased to receive the AP Statistics Barron's Review Books at the beginning of the school year. We have started to use the books at least once a week in class to help review topics. Each of the units have explanations with practice problems, both multiple choice and open response. It is a great way for the students to practice their test taking strategies as well as to check for understanding. We are pioneers of AP stats at our school this year and you have given us another resource that will help us succeed! We appreciate all the support and love that you have given to our class! Thank you again!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Cook
