Frida Kahlo Inspired Headbands
Funded Oct 7, 2023Thank you so much for making this project happen! I cannot forget the smiles on my students faces when they saw these silk flowers. My students in first semester thoroughly enjoyed the process of making the silk flower headbands as inspired by Frida Kahlo.
My favorite moment of this project was when my students were picking out their flower choices. I invited students to come up with a ziploc bag to do a little "shopping" and began the moment I cannot forget. Students were super excited and also very serious at the same time. I couldn't stop smiling myself. There were so many flowers and leaves to choose from, so many varieties and colors to consider. My students had a tough time picking out just the right type of flower to match what were envisioning. It was so wonderful be able to see students so motivated. It's not easy to see early teenagers begin serious about art in applying critical thinking skills. I am so thankful of what impact your donation has made to my students.
I have saved part of these materials to use in my second semester of students. I cannot wait to get this project started again for second semester. I'm already so happy just thinking about it! Any updates to this project will be updated on my school twitter at x.com/LVvisualArts please feel free to stop by!”

Funded Sep 20, 2023Working with brush pens were such an amazing experience! My students so much enjoyed working with them. We started with learning how to hold the such a pen correctly by watching the graphic Jake Parker, and learned to ink some basic lines. With these basic skills, we then made a practice of what's called a Cactus Bot that helped us get a good feel for working with brush pens correctly.
As for the final phase of the module, we made drawings of our dream cars that would help others, inked them using these brush pens, and finished with watercolor brush pens. Students really enjoyed every step of the way, and I could tell how students were so appreciative of these pens. Students were so focus while at work. Also, when students were returning the pens for the next group to use, students had them lined up in number sequence, which I thought was their way of showing how grateful they are towards being able to use such a new medium. Thank you so much for allowing my students to have such a great experience learning how to use brush pens, and also build an appreciation towards the arts. Thank you!”

Funded May 9, 2023Thank you so much for helping my Ceramics class purchase textured rolling pins! These supplies made hand-building so much more fun and meaningful. With your generous donation, we were able to have adequate amount of embossed rolling pins for all of my students to practice with. Last year, it was only my advanced class that had access to these as they were my personal rolling pins I brought into the studio. This year, with the access to having so many in the classroom, my beginning level ceramics students had the opportunity to try them. They were so thrilled!
These helped not only with efficiency, but also allowed my young students to add quality designs on their clay. This would not have been possible without your help.
My class was very appreciative of the materials, especially the embossed rolling pins to begin with. My students were very excited to use these materials and I could see how much they really appreciate the rolling pin, as every student was so eager to use them, but used them with great care. Every time a student would roll out the texture on clay, they were very satisfied with their beautiful and instant result.”

Funded Nov 30, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity. Because of your support, my students were able to have 3 additional sets of jewelry pliers per group in learning how to work with wires. We were able to explore various types of jewelry wires in colors and also in various gauges that helped students to be more expressive in wrapping their fused glass cabochons. Students were thrilled to see these materials and many have said this was their favorite project. I have never seen so many students eager to learn and students many so many accomplishments.
Without your support, students would have needed to wait longer for their turns to use the jewelry pliers and not have plenty of wires to practice. Each student practiced many and completed at three wire wrapped cabochons. Students were able to add a chain to one of their pendants turning them into necklaces. Many have thought this project was something they can do on their own and maybe consider becoming a jewelry artist one day!”
