Oh, For Health's Sake!
Funded Mar 3, 2019My students and I are so grateful for the supplies. The kids have been really enjoying the snacks. I have used them as rewards, incentives, and end of the week prizes. Many of my challenging students have improved their behavior due to the anticipation of receiving a reward at the end of a task or group activity.
With regards to the cleaning supplies, they have come in handy for cleaning up spills and disinfecting the room. It has never been a dull moment in my classroom since receiving your most generous gifts.
Once again, Thanks!”

Funded Nov 23, 2018Where do I begin? My students are so excited about their new headsets. When the packages arrived, as is our custom, we gathered around to take pictures and do our reveal with our game "What's in the box? As we open up each package, with eyes and mouths wide open you could hear the oohs and awws along with the appreciative applause from the students.
This piece of technology has proven to be an invaluable tool for my students. For those of my students who are easily distracted, the use of the headsets has kept them focused and more engaged in their independent learning. Not being able to stay focused for a long time in a group, these students are able to access the same content on the computer with minimal distractions. In addition, since students have to be tested one on one, the headsets have been helpful in preventing outside noise. They have also proven to be an excellent addition to our listening center.
The students were especially excited about the animal characters as well as the gaming feature of the attached microphones along with the ability to control the volume from the headsets. Some students prefer the Sony headsets because of the softness of the cushion on the earpiece.
We thank you so much for funding this project and helping to keep my students happy.
Thanks too Verizon!”

Funded Nov 12, 2018Ever since the boxes arrived in the classroom, you could see the curiosity and excitement oozing out of the children. They keep asking "What's in the box, what's in the box Ms Campbell?" So we played a guessing game of "What's in the box? We then slowly revealed the contents of the boxes. These were met with a lot of applause's and shouts.
Right away they started exploring and sharing with each other. There was a burst of laughter and conversation going on in the classroom. Many of my students are tactile learners. Some also struggle with letter / sound and number recognition. As a result, the play dough stampers are great tools for them to practice these skills.
These resources could not have arrived at a better time! In our 'Show and Tell" writing unit, the students are learning to write about things that are dear to them by either bringing in an object from home or creating one. They have been creating and building things from cars to trains, houses, animals, and even objects in the classroom then drawing and labeling their creations.. There has never been a dull moment in our classroom.
The possibilities are endless, thanks to your generous support.”

Let the STEM Begin!
Funded Aug 20, 2018Thanks again for supporting our project. Since receiving these resources, there has never been a dull moment in my classroom. My students are always building, designing and creating intricate structures from the blueprints and from scratch. In addition, during choice time, the classroom is always bustling with conversations and laughter, even among students who are not socially inclined.
When the materials arrived and we started to unveil what's inside the boxes, it was like Christmas comes early. There were ooohs, awwws, applause, and laughter. Excitement filled the room! You could almost see the wheels turning inside their little heads of how their ideas would come to life.
We are currently embarking on our "Show and Tell" writing unit. Some of our students who are not able to bring in items from home have been creating things and writing about them as their "Show and Tell" piece. They are having a blast! I've seen marked improvements in my students learning and behaviors since introducing them to these resources. This is because of your generous donations.”

Funded Aug 21, 2018My students and I are truly enjoying the new resources. Most of them do not like writing but with their new pencils and markers, they're now motivated to participate during writing workshops. I also explained to them that there are some nice, kind people who cared enough about their learning that they donated these cool resources so they can get smarter. I find that their attention to details and their focus during this time has improved. In addition, the fights over pencils and markers have decreased since they now have their personalized items.
On seeing the delivery of the new materials, they were really happy and excited. They kept chanting for me to open the boxes. So we gathered them together on the rug and revealed them one item at a time.
It's amazing how having new materials and the explanation behind why we got them can help to improve classroom behaviors. It is my hope that my students will continue to improve in their behavior and their creativity as well.
We are eternally grateful for your kind generosity.”

Funded Aug 30, 2018Thanks again for your generous, thoughtful donations!
My students are really enjoying the resources that you helped to fund. Because of your donations, our classroom has been spotless. As soon as there's a spill, accidental markings of crayons, markers, or pencils on their desks, the enthusiasm and motivation to clean is heightened in our room. In addition, The clean up of sneezes and running noses happens in a snap all because you cared.
As you can see in the photos, when the shipment arrived, it was sheer excitement in the classroom. It was announced ahead of time when the materials would arrive and the purpose of the project. This makes the impact much more profound and appreciated.
Seeing that the flu season is well upon us due to the changing weather. Students will learn the importance of staying healthy and keeping germs to themselves by washing their hands after using the bathroom, covering up sneezes, and cleaning up after themselves. My students are also learning that we are somewhat responsible for each other's health by our actions in preventing germs from spreading.”

Funded Aug 12, 2018My students and I are so excited with our new resources. For those of my students who require sensory stimulation to sort of center themselves, they are really having a blast with the kinetic sand. I find that they along well with each other because it relaxes them. The colored storage bins are very practical because the students are able to identify which item they want to play with because of the individual labels.
When the materials arrived, the students were beyond excited as we slowly reveal each one with applause. There was a lot of conversation around what each item will be used for.
My students will be embarking on a project where they'll create things to put on display for their parents. I can't wait!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Campbell
Come on Children, Listen up!
Funded Apr 10, 2018Thanks for supporting our project! My students are really enjoying their new equipment. They are now able to listen to books as well as interactive activities on CD. They also use the boom box to listen to and dance to music during choice time.
The most exciting feature of this product is that they are able to listen to readings in groups of four to six students via a splitter. In this way, they can collaborate and discuss what they're learning with each other.
For those of my students who are not socially inclined, this is a less invasive way of getting them to interact with their peers in a group. They are really having a great time with this new equipment.”

Funded May 3, 2018Thank you for your selfless giving to our project. My students were so excited when they received their new camera. The day when it arrived, we had each student test it out by taking pictures of each other or their favorite section in the classroom. Believe me, they were real pros. We've been using cell phones in the past to capture those precious moments but its nothing like the traditional way of taking pictures. And seeing their faces as they took part in this experience was nothing short of amazing.
My students are mostly fascinated with the wifi feature; the camera's ability to instantly upload pictures where they can see it on the SMARTBOARD. Normally, when pictures are taken, we would have to upload them via USB and for the sake of time show them to the students the following day.
Students who do not enjoy completing assigned tasks are delighted to have their photos taken and displayed around the room or sent to their parents via our communication app. called Class Dojo. They would return the next day to school and excitedly tell me that they saw themselves doing math or some other activity on their mom's tablet or phone. I would say that this piece of technology has proven invaluable as a motivational tool for many of my students. I can't wait to see the impact it will have on my students in the months and years to come!”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you for helping to fund our project! This time, my students were not aware that a delivery was being made. So when they saw those big boxes coming in they were somewhat puzzled. One of the students blurted out " again?". Once again, we had them sit and close their eyes for the big reveal. All you heard were oohs, awws, and applause as different students try out their new seats.
I have to admit that this flexible seating has surely helped to mend a lot of the behavioral issues that I have going on in my classroom. Instead of the traditional sitting at the desks, they now have the choice to sit wherever they want in the room; in their own personal space without interrupting anyone else and still have their work completed. My AP came to observe me and was blown away by how this flexible seating kept the students focused on the task at hand even for those students who had ADD/ADHD. This could not have been made possible without your generous donations and for that, I'm eternally grateful.
My students now like to work in partnerships, especially during reading and writing workshops. I find that they actually produce work because they have the choice of where to sit. I'm looking forward to my students coming in next year to get a jumpstart on their behavior by introducing them to flexible seating.”
