Weighted Vests to Help Them Destress.
Funded Sep 18, 2024Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kind contribution to our project.
When the materials arrived, as usual, the students got very curious to see what was contained in the boxes. One little boy who is non-verbal lit up and started smiling from ear to ear as the materials were unboxed. He waited eagerly to be handed the modeling clay. As soon as he received it he started to relax and calm down. Due to the autism, many of the students have difficulty remaining seated. The weighted vests and the adorable kid-friendly weighted animals were great in helping them decompress and remain calm especially during instruction. Our classroom has become a much calmer and serene environment and it's all due in large part to your generosity. We are forever grateful.
In the long run, we hope to gradually remove the weighed vests as scaffolds and teach the students to requests them if they're feeling stressed. Since most are non-verbal, the goal is to have them indicate to us when they need a time out to relax.
Once again, words cannot express how much we appreciate what you have done for our students. And for this we say thank you.”

Ms. Campbell

Funded Jan 23, 2024Due to your generous donations, the students are truly being impacted in a positive way. Some students are not able to sit comfortably at their desks for a long time. Therefore, the bean bags are used to facilitate flexible seating.
As usual, the students showed an eagerness to see the revealing of what's inside the boxes. They especially love the oversized bean bag which seats up to 3 of them.
Since we do not have one beanbag per student, we will focus on practicing turn- taking. We will have in place a bean bag seating schedule with a timer. Each student will understand the need for sharing and taking turns. This system has eliminated a lot of issues with thosestudents who have difficulty with sharing.”

The Bare Necessities!
Funded Oct 29, 2023Thank you for your assistance in donating to our project. My students were greatly impacted by the contributions to our classroom. They were able to remain focused during class instruction because there was always something on hand for them to eat.
My students were beyond excited when the packages arrived. They waited with eager anticipation as the boxes were opened one by one with cheers and applause. They could not wait to sample the products.
For our SEL session, we will embarking on a project about showing kindness. We will discuss different ways to show kindness to others and how others can benefit when kindness and generosity is shown to them. We will use our project as a basis for our discussion. Students will then create a group poster reflecting the quality of kindness. This was made possible by your generosity.”

Classroom Must-Haves for a Productive School Year!
Funded Aug 3, 2023Thank you once again for kindly and generously considering us by supporting our project. The students have been enjoying the snacks and staying more focused in class. There is always something on hand for them to eat as they have a long school day and often get hungry throughout the day.
I have also been using them as incentives for completing assigned tasks and the plan has been working. Without your help none of this would have been possible.
Thank you again for playing a vital role in the education and physical wellbeing of our children.”

A Clean Classroom and Something to Eat Helps Us Focus
Funded Feb 9, 2023Thank you so much for donating to our class project. The students really benefitted from having a clean, germ-free classroom. They were excited to have a share in cleaning up after themselves with the lysol wipes. It gave them a sense of responsibility and pride knowing that they have contributed to the cleanliness of their home away from home.
The snacks also came in very handy since the students sometimes get hungry before and after lunch. They were more focused on classroom activities and negative behaviors were somewhat minimized.
Once again, thank you!”

Funded Feb 8, 2023We are really enjoying the quiet environment we now have. We actually made it a group project where the students had a share in placing the tennis balls on the legs of their chairs. At first, it was a bit challenging but we got it done.
When the materials first arrived, the students were somewhat confused. They were inquiring about the use of the tennis balls. Suddenly, one of the students yelled out, "They're for the legs of the chairs." I asked why and he said, "because they make too much noise." I replied, "that's right, they are quiet feet for noisy chairs."
We look forward to enjoying a quiet, non-screechy classroom environment for a long time. This would not be possible without your thoughtful and generous donations.”

Funded Oct 26, 2022The new resources are having a great impact on our classroom. We have been using the copy paper in all our classroom activities; homework, small group activities, and bulletin board displays as well. The ergonomically designed scissors are a huge asset to our classroom as many students are just learning to properly grasp a scissor to cut on a line. For longevity purposes and to make our classroom more attractive, we have been laminating pictures, flashcards, classroom posters, and banners. We truly have created a print-rich environment.
My students were really excited when the materials arrived. As is the custom in our classroom, we have reveal sessions of all the items. Students then each chose an item to have their pictures taken. They are generally very appreciative of the donations we receive.
Moving forward, we will continue to make the best use of our donated resources, making our classroom inviting for everyone who enter through our doors.”

Funded Sep 6, 2022Our class thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your donations. The students were so thrilled and excited as we unboxed the materials. These resources have proven to be very helpful for the students. Many of them come to school each day without eating breakfast, and so, having these quick snacks on hand, have been beneficial. I've also used them as incentives for good behavior and I must say that it has been working.
We all know that if a child is hungry, he/she cannot concentrate on academics. We appreciate your understanding of that concept in helping to provide our students with the nutrition they need to fortify their brains to learn. Once again, we thank you!”

SEL and Sensory Awareness
Funded May 1, 2022Thank you immensely for thoughtfully supporting our project and seeing its fulfillment. As was mentioned in the project's description, a large portion of my student population is presented with ASD and other behavioral disorders. These resources could not have come at a more convenient time.
The students are were so excited upon unboxing the materials. You could see and hear the excitement as their faces lit up with appreciation. Currently, we are using them after lunch for our calming down and yoga sessions as well as on Mondays for our SEL block. Even for those students with challenging behaviors, you could hear a pin drop as you enter our classroom. They are thoroughly enjoying these resources.
Once again, thank you! Your generous donations have really made a difference in the lives of our students.”

Funded Aug 31, 2020words cannot express how grateful we are for your generous and thoughtful donations. Without your support, this project would not have come to fruition. These resources could not have arrived at a more convenient time. Both my students and their parents are greatly appreciative of your support. Due to this pandemic, many of our families have been affected in some form or another; mostly economically. Therefore, being able to supply the students with materials needed for school, whether in person or remote has proven to be quite beneficial. The students are really enjoying the playdough and the math manipulatives as well as the art supplies. Once again, thank you.”
