Organization to Increase Learning Time
Funded Sep 27, 2024Words can't express how thankful we all are for your generous donation. When my students first saw our materials, they were so excited! We had faced a big problem of having our chrome books, books, and folders be so crowded inside of our desks. Transitions were taking too much time, and instructional time was being affected. When students saw our beautiful chair pockets, they immediately decided to house their chromebooks and one special folder in their chair pockets. Instructional time and organization have increased, and students are happy; and thankful! Your generosity is changing students' lives, and we are so appreciative of the kind generosity you displayed by thinking of us. A million thanks and lots of love from all us to you.”

Funded Dec 7, 2016Your generosity has made such an impact on the lives of my students; words can't adequately express how thankful I am for the gift of literacy that you have given to my students this year, and in the future.
We are in the midst of learning how fun a good book can be. We have been working on our reading "stamina" all year; it seems with this book, having stamina isn't work at all! The children love the book and are having fun while we are learning. Some of the things we are doing to magnify our learning through this book are: determining the author's purpose, expanding our vocabulary, generating and answering questions, understanding point of view, drawing conclusions, predicting outcomes, and identifying inference. We are making connections to our own lives, as well; we are in the midst of creating a bulletin board with a giant map. Attached to the map will be pushpins and yarn that lead to pictures of our own grandparents; we will talk about where they live and how they have impacted our own lives.
Again, thank you so much for your kindness and for your commitment to helping children have success in school.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Tejeda
Third Graders Need Books
Funded Nov 21, 2014Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. The children have been so happy and busy reading, and it is thanks to you, and your generosity. I would love to share some of the comments that the children made about their books. They were so excited to have been able to choose their own books to write a short research project on. Their engagement and interest in our beautifully varied collection of science and social studies books is evident when watching them in action.
"Thank you for these wonderful books; I really like reading about Jane Goodall." Or "Thank you for helping to buy this book; I loved it. When I read about cells in our body, I couldn't put it down. I wanted to read the whole thing." Or "I loved your book about 3-D shapes because at first I did not know about cubes and other 3-D shapes until I read your book about prisms and rectangular prisms. It was awesome." Or "I like the book about planes because my family is in the Air Force. I also like the book because I love planes." Or "I love The Digestive System and The World of Plants. It taught me a lot about nature and the human body. The books were very interesting and informational." Or "Thank you thank you, thank you for buying us those beautiful books. I really liked the book Heart because I learned so many new things." Or "I thought the book, The First Geologists was very educational. It taught me a lot about geologists from the past. Also, I learned about the hardness of rocks and what number they are on a scale of one to ten. Thank you for the books."
The students' comments are evidence of the learning and enjoyment they gained thanks to your thoughtful donation. As I mentioned, the students are writing (still working on these) a research project on the book of their choice. They have been perusing them for months during our independent reading time when I am meeting in small groups. These books are the most popular item in our classroom library. You will often see students trading each other or asking someone to find a particular book they want to keep and put inside their "book boxes."
None of the learning and happiness that we have enjoyed would have happened without you. Thank you for taking an interest in education and in the beautiful children whose lives and hearts you touched.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Tejeda
Learning To Love Books And Connect Writing To Reading
Funded Dec 1, 2011I would like to offer my sincerest thanks for your generous donation to our classroom. The children in my class have had a wonderful year, learning to become lifelong readers who can turn to a book to travel the world and discover the wonder of life through the pages of a book. They have been busy reading books and writing me letters about those books. Some of them were reading at a first grade level when they got to me, and now they come to me, their faces shining, telling me about the wonderful books they are reading and the places they visit through their books. They can understand what they are reading now and have learned that reading isn't just hard work --it's not just something to do in school. Their writing has improved exponentially as well, as they use their beautiful notebooks to write me letters summarizing their reading and expressing their thoughts and questions about what they are reading. These notebooks have become a way for me to help guide them in their quest to find a book that fits them perfectly, and is neither too hard nor too easy for them. They use these notebooks to collaborate together about what they are reading as well during "book club" sessions.
Thank you doesn't seem to be adequate when trying to express our gratitude to you. Because of your generosity, my students' lives have been changed for the better. Without your generous donation, these materials wouldn't have reached their hands and touched their hearts. Thank you again for caring about children.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Tejeda
