Big Books, Little Readers
Funded Nov 11, 2018Thanks to all of you, I received the big books this week. As I was carrying the big box of books into one of the classrooms, this actually happened... Ms. C, one of the Kindergarten teachers was reading a 5 x 7 inch board book version of Eric Carle's "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" to her entire class. I let her know that the big books had arrived, and she asked if by chance we had received "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" in the big book version, and indeed we did! I handed her the big book version of the story and she was so happy to be able to replace her tiny book with the big book. It was amazing to see the books impact Ms. C's class right on the spot! I visited the other Kindergarten classrooms yesterday and one teacher had the students buddy reading with the books, another teacher was reading a story with her class. I look forward to seeing the students print awareness skills improve as a result of having the big texts in their classrooms. This never would have happened without your generous support.
Thank you!”

Bronx School Unity Garden Stepping Stones
Funded May 17, 2017The PS 68 Garden of Unity has not only provided hands-on opportunities for our students to experience the life cycles of plants, the seasons of the year, and enhanced the understanding that fruits and vegetables come from plants, but it has also increased community engagement. The stepping stone activity was a great way for the students to bond together and do a project to support the garden. I can not even explain how excited the students were to "make their mark" in our garden. The stepping stone project has also allowed students to feel ownership over the garden, and it looks great. Thanks again so much for your support. This project would not have been possible without you!”
With gratitude,
