Colorful Classroom Activities
Funded Sep 18, 2024Thank you so much for supporting my Colorful Classroom Activities project! Because of your generosity, my students were able to strengthen their presentation skills by publishing their work via Google Slides and Google Docs. They learned how to search the web and insert photos alongside their writing, the same way published authors do.
As a teacher, I was able to print out anchor charts, and clearly label different subject areas in the classroom. Student work is celebrated and exhibited with pride.”

Funded May 7, 2024Our Clean Drinking Water project had a huge impact on my students. Because you supported our project, my students were able to stay hydrated throughout the day. Tribeca Beverage delivered 5 gallon jugs of fresh drinking water biweekly until the end of the school year.
Our classroom was located on the fourth floor. The only drinking water in the school building was in the cafeteria on the first floor. Before the cooler arrived, my students would miss out on important instruction to go all the way downstairs to get water and come back up. Once we received the water cooler, students would fill up their water bottles and carry them throughout the day to all of their classes.
Thank you again for your support.”

Funded Jun 19, 2024My students were so excited to receive our materials for interactive free time! The portable ping-pong and the dart game were both a supreme hit with my middle schoolers.
In this technological era, students tend to choose computers for free time. They love playing games online, whether it is basketball, Minecraft or watching TicTok etc. However, these activities tend to engage them in individual activities.
The beauty of receiving the materials for Interactive Free Time, was that the games fostered student interaction. The students set up a Ping-Pong tournament and they worked together to cheer on their teammates. They also engaged in competitive dart games and basketball sessions.
Thank you again for your support.”

Hydration Station 2
Funded Jan 17, 2024I can't thank you enough for supporting my Hydration Station 2 project! Because of you, my students can stay hydrated throughout the day. Students used to have to go down 4 floors to get water and then come back up. They don't have to miss instruction anymore. They also come to my room after gym and recess to refill their water bottles. Some of them even refill them before they go home for the day.
My students were so excited when we got the first water delivery. They used the water cooler manual to attach the jug to the cooler. They take ownership over it and it is amazing.
We are going to the park on a class trip this week. We will definitely take a 5 gallon jug with us and use a pump to access the water. This is a true gift.”

Funded Jan 25, 2024I can't thank you enough for supporting my Cozy Projects project! Because of you, my students were able to knit and crochet many plush and comfy projects. They have plenty of yarn and needles to keep them busy for the rest of the school year!
Anxiety is a real thing for middle schoolers. Knitting and crochet club is a space where students can come to relax, socialize and be creative. It is also a skill they can take with them throughout their lives.
My students look forward to knitting/crochet club on Mondays and Wednesdays. We have our club time first period and it helps boost student attendance. They have definitely grown in so many ways as a result of your generosity.”

Funded Dec 20, 2023I can't thank you enough for helping provide clean water to my students. My students were so excited when we received the water cooler and water bottles. They use the water every day and carry the water bottles with them throughout the day so they can stay hydrated.
Our classroom is on the fourth floor and there is only one water fountain in the building, it is located in the cafeteria on the first floor. My students don't have to lose instructional time to get water anymore since the water cooler is right in our classroom! It helps keep them more focused and hydrated.”

Funded Oct 29, 2023Thank you for your generosity! I am so excited that my students have been able to experience gardening. They were so intrigued when they unpacked the watering cans and the different sizes of pots. Now they understand the potting process and the re-potting process as the plants grow.
I have to shout out the Johnson Ohana Foundation for matching donations to my project. It is always a great help when companies believe in our projects.
Our classroom garden enables my students to develop a love for gardening, exploring the growth and non-growth processes, and it gives them the ability to share these gardening tools with their families.”

Funded Oct 29, 2023Our classroom publishing station is the most amazing thing for my students! We get to do so many things with our new classroom printer.
One thing that is amazing, is that I get to print out checklists, rubrics and anchor charts to help my students succeed with academic expectations. Our current writing unit is argumentative, so each student has an argumentative writing checklist as well as a rubric. We have anchor charts posted around the room so they can see how to cite evidence, as well as what the format is for writing an argumentative essay with a counterpoint etc.
Once our writing has gone through the writing process, my students can publish their work. Once we receive published work it is graded, and presented on our classroom bulletin board to showcase how hard we've worked throughout the unit.
Thank you so much for supporting me and my students. We are so grateful.”

Writing Center
Funded Oct 11, 2023I can't thank you enough for supporting my Writing Center project! Because of you my students have everything they need to be successful writers.
We created an area in our classroom to hold all of our supplies including pencils, pens, highlighters, staplers, different styles of paper, post-it notes, date stampers, etc. Students feel ownership over the classroom and know that the materials are there for them.
We are currently working on argumentative writing. Your support makes it easy to focus on the writing topic, and not on how we are going to produce it.”

Funded Sep 24, 2023I can't thank you enough for supporting my classroom! We started the year with no school supplies. When our boxes started arriving my students were so excited. We organized the materials and we use them every day for writing.
We are learning how to work through the writing process. My students start by drafting into their notebooks, then they conference with a teacher or with a peer, and leave post-it note feedback. Each draft becomes better and better until publishing time.
After publishing we display our work on our bulletin board for everyone in the school community to see. We understand the importance of presenting our work professionally.”
