Bilingual Literacy Centers
Funded Apr 6, 2023Words cannot describe the impact you have made in my students' lives! Thanks to your donation, you have made possible the creation and organization of engaging materials that support language development. More importantly, these centers support collaboration, promoting teamwork and social skills.
Three of the centers created thanks to your support include bingo, roll and record, and Playdoh letter formation. Through bingo, students practice letter and sound recognition. It also allows them to make connections to their home life, as this is a traditional game in many of our students' native countries. Roll and record has supported students' letter writing but also repeated practice to some high frequency words. Playdoh letter formation has allowed students with fine motor difficulties to have an entry point and practice the letters we have learned.
We will continue to use the resources you financed to create more differentiated centers this school year. One of the upcoming projects is designing games that support segmenting and blending syllables.
Once again, "muchas gracias" for supporting this project and making a huge impact in the lives of over 100 bilingual learners!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Russi

Funded Aug 18, 2022Thank you for your generous contribution to our bilingual classroom. Thanks to your support, kindergarteners are able to learn about math and engage into exploratory work in a fun way.
Among the various activities and centers created, the materials acquired have helped students who are still learning numbers 0-20, recognizing the numbers and counting objects. Students have also created bead strings that support them counting, adding and subtracting. Additionally, they have engaged in fun challenges where they have to design and create structures using straws and magna-tiles.
As students continue learning about numbers, we hope this materials support instruction and help students who are particularly having difficulty. We also hope this materials will continue to engage and promote our kindergarteners' imagination to create new structures, using their knowledge about engineering.”

Funded Aug 9, 2022Thanks again for your generous donation!
The books you helped fund have helped encourage literacy in our Spanish classroom.
Students like to practice their reading skills with these books during independent reading. Kindergarteners enjoy finding and reading sight words we learned throughout the year. These books also include patterns, which help students feel successful and practice recognizing high frequency words.
Additionally, students enjoy drawing personal connections to the texts. For instance, they like comparing the experiences of the characters in the book to their own experiences, celebrating birthdays, going to the farm and the park.
Thank you for your support and everything you do.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Russi
