  • Making Literacy & Letters Fun in PreK!

    Funded Apr 8, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous gift. My class really appreciates you donating all of the literacy materials! They were over-joyed when the big box arrived to our classroom. They couldn't wait to practice letter writing and sounds with all of the fun new things!

They love the Letter and Beginning Sound Rocket Building set the most. They are using beginning sounds to building all different rockets. I love they this motivates them to use their sound and letter knowledge. It is amazing to see them work together to find the letters and matching sounds. It really makes learning cooperative and FUN! One of our students was really struggling to learn the letters in his name. He was so excited to use the rockets and practice that he was able to put the rockets with his name in the correct order in 4 days!!! He was so proud telling us how to spell it!

The students also do an amazing job discussing why things go together with the Early Language Activity Boxes . It is so much fun watching a small group use their reasoning skills to describe to their partners why things should be placed where. It is a wonderful way to increase their oral vocabulary and conversation skills. My English Language Learners are showing so much growth!

The Magnetic writers are very helpful at improving their fine motor skills. They can slide to erase errors and they love using the small magnetic pencil to practice their tripod grasp. The dry erase materials also make practicing fun and frustration free.

As a PreK teacher, one of my main goals is to teach our students to work together and develop skills to prepare us for the academic rigor of kindergarten. Funded Mar 18, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous gift. My class really appreciates you donating all of the magnetic materials! They were over-joyed when the big box arrived to our classroom. They couldn't wait to build, play and try out all of the fun new magnetic things!

They love the Crazy Shapes Magnetic Building set the most. They are building all different types of vehicles, homes and crazy games with this set. I love they this motivates them to use their words to describe what they build and how it is used. This is a really important skill that my English Language Learners are developing. They are so excited about describing what they have built that they aren't self-conscious and the words just pop out!

The students also do an amazing job discussing about the mixed-up animals that they put together. It is fun to hear about what these animals can do and what they eat! It is so much fun watching a small group have their new animals talk to each other. I really get a kick out of hearing them chatter in animal voices and play together. It is a wonderful way to increase their oral vocabulary and conversation skills.

The Magnetic Designers are very helpful at improving their fine motor skills. They also find it very calming to play with when they are having "big feelings".

As a PreK teacher, one of my main goals is to teach our students to work together and build our vocabulary and speaking skills. PreK is such an important year in a student's life. We try to make learning lots of fun and the magnetic materials really help us do this! • Representing All With Diverse Characters

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous gift. My class really appreciates you donating all of the different books and characters that represent the students in our class. They were so excited when all of the puppets, dolls, supplies and books were coming in! They were awed by your kindness and that you spent your money to buy them all of the wonderful new things!

Pre-K is often the first real classroom experience that our students have encountered. We want the beginning of their educational experience to be positive and set them up with an attitude that school is fun and exciting! As teachers it is our job to make to feel connected, represented and invested in what they read and with materials they engage with. We want our classroom centers to be representative of our students' appearance, culture, identity, and language. We feel that this is imperative for our students to feel welcomed, accepted and seen. We want to do everything in our efforts to make our students feel comfortable in our classroom and school and set them up for future success. The materials that you have helped provide our class room with are doing exactly this! They love having families that look like them in the dollhouse. Our now diverse puppet center allows them to act out the stories with characters that look like them. The books let them read about real characters that have done amazing things.

On behalf of my class, I would like to let you know how grateful we are for your generous donation. You can tell by their photos how much they have enjoyed receiving the books and characters that are representative of our class population. I hope I have expressed how much it will benefit their education. Your donation will really help our students understand and enjoy reading and educational play. The materials are also super sturdy and will benefit many future Pre-K classes to come!”

  • Building Early Engineers With a Billion Blocks

    Funded Feb 10, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous gift. My class really appreciates you donating all of the different types of blocks and animals. They were so excited when all of the blocks and animals were coming in! Now they can't get enough time problem solving and building exciting, new homes, structures and transportation vehicles in our classroom. They are so disappointed when we have to clean up for lunch or dismissal because they are having so much fun.

These materials are already improving their education. Their communication and vocabulary have increased incredibly by working together. I can also see progress in their special awareness. They are getting better rebuilding structures from a picture. Their engineering is also improving. They are building higher structures with wider bases.

As a Pre-K teacher, one of my main goals is to teach our students to have a strong academic foundation as well as communication and social skills. Pre-K is such an important year in a student's life, especially this year because the pandemic has been about half of their lives. This is the time when the students learn different strategies and skills to work with each other and explore. The variety of blocks allows them to build with magnetic tiles, bamboo blocks and bristle blocks. The farm, ocean, jungle and panda animals encourage them to build thoughtfully considering what the animals might need in their homes.

On behalf of my class, I would like to let you know how grateful we are for your generous donation. You can tell by their photos how much they have enjoyed receiving the blocks and I hope I have expressed how much it will benefit their education. Your donation will really help our students understand and enjoy engineering and building. The materials are also super sturdy and will benefit many future Pre-K classes to come!”

  • Calm-Down and Mindfulness Support Tools

    Funded Jan 13, 2022

Thank you for supporting my class in getting the tools we need to help us cope with this stressful year! Thanks to you, our calm down corner is amazing! A calm down corner, sometimes referred to as a mindfulness corner, is a designated space in our classroom where students can go when they need to regulate their emotions. Calm down corners are known for their ability to help students implement social and emotional learning skills. It's a little tucked away corner where students can have a bit of quiet and privacy and take a few moments to themselves to practice mindfulness techniques. Our calm down corner is now complete with tools students can use to help themselves regulate their emotions. We have pop-its, sensory balls, sensory tubes, fidget spinners, squeeze balls and rainbow viewer windows. Taking a quiet moment with a mindfulness toy can help us take a breath and realize what we are feeling. It prevents meltdowns and promotes self-regulation.

Your support also provided us with Build Me Emotion Legos, Mood Emotion mirrors, Stack & Build Emotion Kids, and Feelings Emotions Dough Mats. These tools help us to learn about our different emotions. They help us learn the vocabulary we need to talk about our feelings and realize that almost everyone feels the way do at times. Sometimes when their young bodies experience BIG emotions we don't know what is happening to us. With the knowledge and vocabulary we can discuss our feelings and it helps us to calm down. We are able to describe exactly how we are feeling and that is very helpful and allows us to express ourselves in a healthy way.

We are so grateful for your generosity. We can practice mindfulness instead of having a fit! We are truly awed by you in helping us get the materials we need to be emotionally healthier and better learners!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Regan

My class is filled with energetic and enthusiastic students who are always eager to learn new things and engage in hands-on lessons. We are a CTT class so we have some students with special needs such as speech, sensory issues, learning disabilities and processing issues. Many of the children in our class are learning the English language. We are always working together as a team to build our vocabulary as well as develop our math and literacy skills. Many of our literacy lessons are based on science and we try to incorporate as much STEM as we can. Our class goal is to create a love of learning in a respectful environment that's filled with fun! We build on each other's strengths and are learning to embrace each other's differences while developing a strong educational foundation together.
