Our school is a small school of about 300 students. Most students are part of low income homes, 94% qualify for free/ reduce lunch. About half of our student are categorized as bilingual students. We have a great low incidence special education program. The program consists of three classroom with most students diagnosed with moderate ASD. Due to budget cuts our books and material are outdated. Teachers have to find outside resources to update books and materials. Despite, all obstacles are school continues to improve and flourish. My class consist of 20 students in the 3rd grade. My class switches once for Math. While my homeroom is in Math, I teach the 5th grade class reading and witting. Most don't read at grade level, that is why I want to create a space for them to enjoy reading at their reading level with challenging reads presented as well.
