Fidget to Focus :)
Funded Dec 4, 2019The students of Frog Pond Elementary are sincerely grateful for the support and generosity of our selfless Donors Choose family! We truly appreciate your kindness and willingness to donate to our project, Fidget to Focus. A fidget might be seen as a toy to some, but for many students with ADHD, anxiety, sensory processing, or with a variety of other needs, they are a crucial tool in the learning process. Research has confirmed that fidgeting and movement help students to increase their ability to pay attention, memory recall, and problem-solving. Having an assortment of choices for flexible seating and sensory output has been crucial in meeting a vast array of student needs on a daily basis.
Providing our students with opportunities to move and fidget through this Donors Choose project has already helped them to become more engaged in their learning. Their faces lit up with joy as soon as the materials arrived. Even just opening the packages brought on the smiles! Our students are enjoying the opportunities to be more active in the classroom and are eager to begin activities knowing they will not be required to sit still the entire time. We cannot thank you enough for providing these resources for our future leaders. It is not an easy task to express the gratitude we have for all of the support you have provided through your generosity. We all thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Harper

Funded Sep 19, 2016Dear Donors,
My students and I cannot begin to thank you enough for your support. The standing desk is the perfect addition to the multiple flexible seating options in my classroom. The best part about the desk is that it is lightweight, yet has a large work surface. We have relocated the desk around my room several times. The desk is wide enough for two students to use the kick bar at once and has enough room for 3-4 students to stand and work together. The standing desk is the most collaborative piece of furniture in our classroom!
Excitement does not even begin to describe the reaction when the standing desk was delivered. For the first few days in my classroom I had to create a rotating schedule to make sure all students had the opportunity to work at the desk. Every student "tested" the desk to see if they should stand, lean, or sit on a stool when working there. They each have their own preference, but they are all equally excited to use the desk!
I hope that I was able to provide a glimpse into the monumental impact you have made in my classroom. The standing desk represents the opportunity to move, focus, learn, and grow. The desk is utilized every day by my most active learners, and I will even admit to using it myself too! Lesson planning after school is so much more comfortable there! Thank you again for supporting us on our quest for learning!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Harper
