Help Bring Computer Science To East New York
Funded Sep 14, 2016For the past few months, my students have been hard at work learning to code. We have been using the resources on code.org and codeacademy.org. It's a unique opportunity that nobody else in the school has; my students are aware of it and they are proud of it.
It's an exciting opportunity because, up until recently, many of them have never had a chance to work with computers on a regular basis. Fortunately or unfortunately, this is a novel opportunity for them.
A few of my students are enjoying coding so much that they have started doing it on their own at home. They have sped ahead of the rest of the class and they are even showing me things that I didn't know about.”

Our Students Need Paper
Funded Apr 21, 2015Thank you for your generous donations. When my students first saw the boxes of paper in our classroom they didn't realize it had anything to do with them, but over the course of the rest of the school year, they realized that they were getting more handouts and materials in my class than in any of their other classes.
Due to the lack of paper in my school, it is normal for students to have to rush to copy down the questions that would normally make up a worksheet or homework assignment during class. Since I received this shipment, my students have been grateful to have neat and plentiful worksheets and to not have to deal with the burden of wasting class time copying from a board.
This project boosted, and continues to boost, my students' learning by giving them curricular materials that they would otherwise miss out on.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Frankel
