iNeed iBooks Author Professional Development
Funded Feb 17, 2015I want to take this opportunity to thank you once again for your kind and generous donations. Your donations made this project possible for me and my students. Attending Apple's iBooks Authors Professional Development allowed me to grow professionally in an area that needs constant learning and keeping up with today's 21st century skills.
Attending iBooks Authors has given me an opportunity to learn and put into practice a technology skill that will take my students to the next level when it comes to creating narrative and/or information texts. My students will learn to personalize books with templates and interactive widgets, add videos, audio, accessible features, share and publish a digital book.
I know my students are ecstatic about working with the digital medium and they can't wait to put their pieces out there for their friends and families to read.”

Funded Aug 4, 2014My students were excited to have received Rand's American Chillers book series. They couldn't wait to dive into a good mysterious read. I have my previous year's students utilizing the collection as independent reading. They are so fascinated by the mysteries that it has them coming back for more. My current second grade readers are using the books in a buddy reading system. They too find them very thrilling. American Chillers has truly helped spark an interest in reading for my students and others who have gotten word of the collection being housed in our classroom. It's nice to see reluctant readers take an interest in reading and bringing a friend along with them to borrow a book from my class library.”

I Can Make Money Sense with iPads!
Funded Jul 6, 2014My students were delighted to receive the two mini iPads and their sturdy protective covers. My students couldn't wait to put their digital skills to use. This group of students had prior experience using QR codes in their class last year, so they know first hand the fun and the much learning that comes from using QR codes in the class. Currently my students are using the mini iPads to scan QR codes posted around the room to help them practice financial literacy skills found on websites, literature, games, and digital worksheets. This project is helping my students take an interest in money matters and the importance of making financial literacy a priority.”

Funded May 13, 2014I am so grateful for your kind and generous donations. My students were overwhelmed with joy when we received our financial literacy resources. Instantaneously they asked if they could send thank you letters to everyone who made this project possible. These resources are being put to use on a daily basis, especially the wireless headphones, read-alouds, and the Daily Interactive Math Station and Math games. The Interactive Money Math games and the Hands-On Interactive Math Lab help to keep my students engaged as they practice daily money skills. The Money Hot Dots and the power pens are a hit with my new second grade students; they enjoy reviewing and practicing daily money skills and concepts. Math in my class is definitely the favorite subject of the day. These resources have done their job - boosted my students interest without a doubt!
Thank you again for helping to fund our project!”

Funded Apr 23, 2014I want to take this moment to thank you for funding my class project, Summertime Reads with Speakaboos. My students were thrilled to discover that there are generous people as yourself that care about their learning. They were even more excited to know that they would have a fun and safe digital learning site that they could visit during the summer to help them practice their literacy skills.
Speakaboos was wonderful resource for my former students struggling with reading. I was told by students that Speakaboos allowed them to practice reading familiar fables and folktales, classic fairy tales, and even sing familiar educational songs. They used these stories to help them practice fluency, improve their reading comprehension, and sharpen their technology skills. My new second grade class this year has just been introduced to Speakaboos and they are just as excited to use it. They are currently using Speakaboos in the class during independent and buddy reading opportunities. I've used Speakaboos lesson plans to help guide my whole group digital interactive read alouds to teach good character traits our first days of school. One lesson my students enjoyed was The Ugly Duckling, as it taught them about acceptance, being true to themselves, and respecting others.
Although I wrote this project to be a summertime reading project, I plan on using the Speakaboos subscription for my current second grade class. I know that it will definitely help support my students' literacy skills just as it did for my former students. My new students are engaged during whole group and independent readings. I'm committed to utilizing Speakaboos to help enhance my teaching and assist my students in growing as learners.”

Funded Apr 24, 2014There are not enough words to explain the how appreciative my students are for all the wonderful STEM materials. Their little faces beamed with overwhelming joy when I delivered the news that our project got funded. The first thing they asked was if they could write a thank you letter to all the caring and generous donors. I quickly responded, "without a doubt!"
Currently the STEM materials are being used during independent work time to support math and science concepts learned. These materials are helping the students practice and reviews concepts that will be presented in their summative assessments. The interactive math games have been a great hit! My students have been having fun all while practicing and reviewing grade level math concepts (money, fractions, place value, and time).
At this time of the year when students are getting exhausted and checking out for summer, I have truly seen a new attitude from my students. They seem to be more engaged and eager than ever! These resources have sparked my students' learning; they are a true blessing!”

Funded Feb 1, 2012 I'd like to take a moment to thank you for your generous donation to my classroom. The colored printer you helped fund has helped my students' technology assignments come to life. My students get so motivated to create on Comic Life; every comic they design is beautifully captured when printed. Keynote presentations and projects look like published picture books, and written assignments and research reports on Pages take on a higher quality appearance when published and printed in color. Our classroom has definitely taken on a whole new look, one that is more vibrant, enriched, and inviting.
Our school like so many schools in California is in a budget crisis, so without your help, my students would not have been able to see their published projects and assignments in color (except for on their laptop screens).
Please know that I am truly grateful to have donors like you be interested in making a difference in a classroom like mine”
