  • Writing Materials To Draw Observational Pictures Of Living Things

    Funded Sep 27, 2017

I cannot tell you enough how thankful my students are for what they call the "Smelly Markers". There's something about the Mr. Sketch Scented Markers that make my students want to engage in drawing activities a lot more. Thanks to your donation my students have had the opportunity to participate in several observational drawing activities. I'm currently doing a tree study in which my students have had the opportunity to learn about how trees change, the characteristics of trees, who lives in trees and the food that comes from trees. Thanks to your donation my students have used the markers to make observational drawings of trees. In our playground there's four Evergreen trees full of pine cones and tree branches, my students have had the opportunity to draw observational pictures of these trees and have had to describe their illustrations, fostering the use of words and language. The kids are having a blast drawing with these awesome scented markers, thanks for making learning fun and engaging! It wouldn't be possible without your commitment to supporting early childhood education. Kids are our future, we need to support them in all ways to succeed and love education.”

  • Science In The School Yard!

    Funded Sep 18, 2017

Thank you for supporting my students in the integration of technology in our preschool classroom, it's truly wonderful to expose young children to the use of technological tools at a young age to further support them in becoming technologically adept.

My students participate in science experiments on a daily basis and in order to support their retention of scientific terms, concepts and overall learning, the mini camera and film have come in quite handy. The children are currently learning about pumpkins, they've participated in describing the pumpkins, fostering the use and acquisition of descriptive words. They've also, carved a pumpkin to investigate what's inside. We've taken pictures of all of these activities to chronicle the pumpkin study and life cycle. Thank you so much for the mini camera, it has been truly wonderful to document and take pictures of their pumpkin investigations. One of our activities involved asking the children to predict what's inside a pumpkin, the children's responses were priceless, they predicted that there was going to be "spiders", "bones", "nothing", "pie", "water", "pinata", and "orange". Most of my students were surprised to learn that seeds were inside of the pumpkin. It's truly rewarding to see my students learn and also, being able to capture those wonderful learning moments with pictures. Every step of the process of investigating pumpkins is being documented and photographed with our mini camera and film, this wouldn't be possible without your wonderful contribution. Each student is going to take a Pumpkin Study Book filled with pages and pictures of investigations for future reference and to showcase to their respective family.

Thank you for supporting early childhood education and for helping make learning fun and exciting! With all of my heart thank you!”

  • Measurement Centers For Simple Investigations

    Funded Aug 31, 2017

First and foremost, I want to thank you for investing in early childhood education, I cannot stress enough the importance of supporting our youngest students with developmentally appropriate tools to foster their love and enjoyment of learning. Currently, part of our curriculum requires that we focus on our student's learning in mathematical concepts such as measurement and number sense and math operations in an effort to strengthen basic math skills which are the building blocks for their entire academic career.

The children have demonstrated great interest in the measurement tools acquired by your generous gift. They have participated in various measurement investigations involving the use of the liquid measurement kit which has measuring cups, measuring spoons and 20 cards to facilitate the investigations with terrific critical thinking and problem solving questions. The children are growing in understanding of measurable properties such as size, capacity and weight. They've had the opportunity to fill and pour water into various containers of different sizes and the opportunity to learn and use comparative words such as more and less. Furthermore, to add to the current on going investigations of pumpkins, my students participated in a pumpkin pie cooking activity in which the children used the measuring cups and spoons to measure the various ingredients, boy was that an exciting experience, for many of my students this was their first ever cooking activity or use of conventional measuring tools. You can't even begin to imagine their excitement! They were thrilled and said they were going to go home and share with mommy that they cooked at school.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for providing these little children the tools that are impacting their young lives in magnificent and amazing ways! They're learning, thriving and very excited to engage in new and wonderful learning experiences each day.”

  • Environmental Science Consciousness!

    Funded Aug 31, 2017

Thank you for the environmental science instructional materials. My students are learning and becoming conscious of what it means to protect our beautiful planet, wildlife and resources. The children are particularly fond of the Wild Animal and Forest Animal Collections. They're learning that many different species of animals live and thrive in forest areas, which provide the trees, plants, protection, water, and food sources that the animals need to survive. They're learning many facts about the animals that make their home in the forest, such as the owls and how they are very skillful birds of prey that hunt at night and they've also, learned that moose have huge antlers which can measure up to 6 feet. The children have also, learned that animals in the wild have to constantly search for food and water, while staying on guard against enemies. The Safari Read-Along collection and the Sloth Read-Along collection have also, been a huge success in the classroom, the children run to the library listening center to learn about animal facts. These resources are supporting my students in becoming well rounded individuals, informed and educated not only in core subjects but in all areas that concern people living in our planet. Again, thank you so much for investing in early childhood education!”

  • Dramatic Play Enhances Learning

    Funded Aug 1, 2017

First and foremost, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for these amazing dramatic play materials, we really were in need of dress up clothes in the dramatic play area for the children to engage with. The dress-up clothes are beautiful and the fabric textures and colors have caught the attention of my students. Every day my students love to play dress up in the dramatic play area and engage in different kinds of dramatic play roles and interactions. Through these interactions my students are building friendships, social emotional skills and vocabulary fostering their emotional and social well being. I've had the opportunity to share the name and country of origin of the dress-up clothes with my students, the kids are fascinated by them because they're different. My responsibility as an early childhood educator is to plant the seeds of love, compassion, tolerance and appreciation of others, I'm hopeful that with these materials, my students can learn to appreciate the differences and likeness of people from around the world.
