Printing my History
Funded Dec 26, 2023Your generous donation has allowed the opportunity for my 7th graders to explore their creativity and their vision of freedom with a printmaking project. Students learned about the colonists vision of freedom, African Americans vision of freedom and Women's vision of freedom during colonial America, they then were able to explore their own vision of freedom. With their own vision of freedom they chose 3-4 symbols to incorporate into a unique design to represent their life and liberty.
My students were so very excited to see our materials. They took so much care and responsibility in using the materials to show the power their ideas have through art. Many students were not familiar with printmaking and this project sparked a new form of creativity that they are interested in continuing. They enjoy sharing their learning through art and I hope to continue this form of assessment in the future because this is how my students have gained pride in their learning.
To put our art into a collective piece I will be submitted their art with labels they created describing their art to a free student publishing service. With this we will receive a classroom book with all their unique perspectives and creations on a life with liberty. This has been an incredibly memorable class project for my students and I am pleased to leave students with a piece of work that represent their life and freedom.”
With gratitude,
