Funded Nov 30, 2021I wish to thank you so much for your donations that allowed for my project to be funded! The items within the project have made a tremendous impact in my AP classes. The aquaponics system has been set up and we are currently awaiting for our plants to grow. Students have been conducting water and soil tests while learning more about aquaculture.
When the boxes were opened and the system was unpacked, it took us about a week to figure out where and how to set up the system. The students and I finally decided on the counter on the side wall. Once set up, the students wanted to immediately get the plants going instead of letting the bacteria and nutrients cycle. However, we got the water column nutrients within the right parameters to begin planting last week.
This project has also sparked conversations within other classes outside of AP, which tells me that this project has potential to run long-term and benefit all students. Currently, my regular Environmental Science classes try to sneak pictures of the progress now that the seedlings have begun to emerge. My teacher neighbor's Biology classes ask my students about what is going on with the system and what is the main purpose of setting up an aquaponics system. All of which was made possible by you! I cannot express how much these items have already enhanced the curriculum for my students.”
With gratitude,
