My kindergarteners are adapting to school and learning through play and exploration. One way that I want to help them learn is through building. Engineering and math skills will be very useful in their future lives, so I want to get my kids hooked through exploration with the magna-tiles, legos, and the marble run. They will be available to the children during our free choice time, plus we will have STEM challenges involving building with many different materials. I want to capture their interest and spur learning while they play. I want my kids to love learning, especially in math and science. One way I want to make this happen is by putting a whiteboard in every student's hand. They need something to draw on and easily erase during our math work. These boards will allow them to draw, write, and show what they know from wherever they are in the room. These whiteboards will also do double duty by being a hard surface they can write on during our science and language arts time. We will be going outside to observe and draw the weather now that it's getting colder and starting to rain. They will need that hard, portable surface to allow them to be successful wherever we are doing our learning. We will use the weather and sky science kit to hook all learners into science through observing our natural world.
