Laptops for Literacy!
Funded Dec 18, 2009This letter cannot truly express how deep my gratitude is for your generous donations that allowed my classroom to have a new laptop. The computer skills and activities the students are working on every day have helped them vastly improve their typing skills and have helped them gain a better understanding of how to use a computer.
As the world becomes more and more technology-based it is important that our students learn how to use the technology we currently have. Additionally, it is important that students learn how to make technology a part of their every day lives since life is quickly moving in that direction. The laptop you have funded will help all of my students do both of those things!
I love that the laptop has sparked a sudden increased interest in writing, too! All of my students keep asking, "When is it time for writing?" "Do we get to write stories today?" and "Are we going to publish our writing on the computer?" Before getting the laptop, writing was a big chore for my students but now they are excited to write because the technology allows them to publish their writing to share!
With the generous help from donors like you, my students have a renewed zest for learning and using technology in every day life. Thank you so much for your donations. Thanks to your generosity, classrooms all over the United States will no longer go without the supplies and materials they need. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Lippert
"Centered" on Literacy Success!
Funded Nov 24, 2009Saying thank you just doesn't seem to be enough to accurately show the level of gratitude I have for each one of your generous donations. The books, games, and "Take to Your Seat Centers" are supplies that my students use every day in the classroom. Since receiving the materials, the level of student engagement in reading and literacy instruction has gone up immensely. As soon as students walk into the room they surround me and ask if we are going to get to read and play the games we received because of your generous donations. The games and letter tiles have improved student spelling and transferred their spelling skills to their writing as well. Writing has become more expressive and engaging since students have had a greater exposure to what good books look and sound like.
Our school is currently facing budget worries, like many in our country, and your donations and support for literacy instruction in America have allowed our students access to quality materials and enabled them to become successful, life-long readers.
Thank you again for your generous support for my classroom and many other classrooms around the country. Public education schools are better places because of the support from people like you. Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Lippert
