Put the Drama Kids In the Spotlight!
Funded Sep 13, 2012Thank you so much for the spotlight you donated to our theatre department. It really made our production of "The Wizard of Oz" amazing. The kids really enjoyed the opportunity to work with theatre technology and it truly helped set the mood during the scenes. Having more than one spotlight also allowed more students to participate in the production.
The kids especially took advantage of the powered color changer and that fact that the spotlight is light weight and portable.
I look forward to seeing what ideas they come up with for our next production.”

Funded Jul 24, 2012Thank you so much for your donation of a bubble machine, bubble juice, and an LED flame to our production of "The Wizard of Oz". It was such a treat for the students to have special effects for this production. They enjoyed learning how to work the equipment, rigging it to look effective on stage, and watching the amazement on their audiences' faces when they used the effects.
Our students take a lot of pride in improving their technical skills and your donation gave them just the challenge they were looking for.”

Drama Club Needs Costumes for "The Wizard of Oz" - Part 2
Funded Sep 7, 2012Thank you so much for your donation of a witch costume and fabric for the Winkie costumes. We had so much fun putting this show together and the costume kids really enjoyed making the Winkie costumes.
Our witch really embraced her character with the amazing costume you've donated. She was a truly wicked sight to be seen.
With all of the fabric you've donated to us, our student costume makers were able to create 11 Winkie soldier costumes in red and blue with black trim.
All of these, combined with our other amazing costumes, helped make our show a wonderful success.”

Drama Club Needs Costumes for "The Wizard of Oz" - Part 1
Funded Aug 29, 2012Thank you so much for the costume pieces for "The Wizard of Oz." Without your donation, our Emerald City would never have been as dazzling as it turned out to be.
We used the sequin fabric to create skirts and other accessories for the scene. Between the skirts, hats and wigs, we were able to provide a few green costume pieces for all the students in the scene.
Over 70 students participated in this production and every bit of extra help counted. Your donation truly did make our show a success. Thank you again for making our production a dream come true!”

Funded Nov 21, 2011Thank you so much for the gift you have given us! We use the art supplies you have given us all the time. Between the 8th graders backdrop projects, show posters, and even set pieces, I think every marker, pair of scissors and bottle of glue has already been used at least once.
As I teach over 500 students every year, art supplies run out quickly. Our kids can't afford to bring in their own supplies either.
Your donation has made it possible for each student to have an opportunity to create a design element for his/her play without money become an obstacle. We really appreciate all you do.”

Art Supplies
Funded Jul 18, 2011Thank you so much for the gift you have given us! Only a few teachers have triangles in our school so the students don't really get to learn to use them. The 7th graders just finished a project where they had to draw a scale version of our stage. The rulers and triangles made it so much easier for them to create their drawings.
Later next week, the 8th graders are starting their set designs. During that project, the students create a backdrop that is 6 feet by 8 feet for their 10 minute play. I am looking forward to giving them the large T-squares and yard sticks to use to make their designs come to life.
The materials you have given us will be used over and over for years to come.”

You Call This a Theatre?!? Help Us Reclaim Our Stage Part 2
Funded Jan 24, 2011Thank you so much for the storage containers and shelves. I wish I would have taken photos of the messy storage room before it was cleaned up! As you can see now, the whole space it so much neater. The kids can actually walk into the room and get what they need.
Before, whenever we needed to look for props or costumes, I had to crawl into the space and hope not to get caught in anything. Now we can easily get into the space and use everything properly.
We are going to continue renovating the outer room where this closet is and very soon our green room with be a place to be envied.
Thank you again for your generous donation!”

Let Our True Colors Shine Through - Stage Makeup Part 1
Funded Mar 9, 2011Thank you so much for the stage makeup kits! It was so wonderful to see the kids learning theatrical makeup techniques. I loved giving them the opportunity to experiment with various makeup effects and to learn how to age people.
Our spring play, Guys and Dolls Jr. took place in the 1940s. With the makeup you provided us, we were able to get the elegant makeup effect on the girls we needed and the rough, street-wise look to our guys. Before we had this makeup, we simply had to do without. We produced A Midsummer Night's Dream earlier this year, and though the play was beautifully done, it could have dazzled the audience even more with fantasy makeup on the fairies.
I look forward to using the makeup next year with our fall play, Into the Woods. Wolf makeup, here we come!”

8th Grade "10-Minute Play" Project - We Need Scripts!
Funded Jan 12, 2011Thank you so much for the scripts you have sent our children. When we started this program three years ago, I walked into a completely empty classroom - bare walls, no books, no curriculum.
We have a great staff and administration who bend over backwards to help our department. However, there are only so many resources to go around.
Your donation helps the students see that their class and our department are special and important. By doing these 8th grade plays, these students don't just learn about the performing arts. They experience first hand how teamwork, motivation, and creativity impact their work and themselves. Thank you again for your donation!”

Ms. Shariffskul
