  • Unlock the World of Reading.

    Funded Jan 13, 2025

Thank you so much for helping the students want to read the books. The skills they gained were insightful and able to have discussions with other people and other students. Many of the texts were able to help them through their daily issues in school like fitting in making new friends and just be able to connect to someone else. All types of students are able to read and able to connect and able to enjoy new books. They even want to start having book clubs and focus on the different issues and genres.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mora

  • Journaling to the Light

    Funded Mar 14, 2024

Thank you for your generosity!!! Your donation will help my student clarify their thoughts and feelings in an organized way. Journaling will lead to better self-understanding knowing what makes them happy and confident and will develop a wider vocabulary for expressing their feelings.

What a joy to know that with your help my students will gain the skills they need to reduce their stress by writing about feelings and experiences. Expressing themselves via writing will assist in problem-solving and aid in resolving disagreements with others.

Thank you for choosing to make a difference through your donation. I appreciate your support more than words can express.”

    With gratitude,

  • Love Your Crown and Embrace Your Beauty

    Funded Mar 13, 2024

In a world dominated by societal standards and unrealistic beauty ideals, teaching the younger generation to embrace their natural curly hair is an empowering endeavor. Curly hair has historically been stigmatised and often misunderstood, leading many individuals to resort to damaging and straightening treatments to fit into societal norms.

Your donation have allowed me to guide my students explore the importance of embracing natural curly hair and provide practical tips and insights to empower the younger generation in their journey towards self-acceptance and self-love. Educating my students about proper curly hair care is essential to ensure healthy, well-maintained curls. They have struggled to manage their hair due to a lack of knowledge about proper care techniques. Your donation has allowed me to provide accessible and accurate information on curly hair care, we can empower the younger generation to embrace their natural curls and feel more confident in taking care of their hair.”

  • Teaching Social Emotional Skills

    Funded Jun 16, 2021

I want to express my sincere gratitude for your donation. Thanks to your contribution I am able to provide social emotional learning techniques with manipulatives such as the stress balls. I have provided students, who have a hard time verbally expressing the feelings, with journals - so they can express themselves through writing.

The book "Brain-changing strategies to trauma proof our school" has been a great helpful tool for me. This book has taught me skills I can use when supporting a student in need of emotional and trauma support.

Your generosity has given my students recourses and support they need emotionally and for that I am truly grateful.

    Sincerely,

    Ms. Mora”

  • Staying Protected from COVID-19

    Funded Dec 22, 2020

The use of masks and other personal protective equipment, while imperative and necessary for safety, has been lacking in our school.

Even in the best of times, kids are little germ factories. They easily spread illness to their peers and bring it home to their families. Protecting them in the classroom takes a lot of supplies and at times there is not enough for support staff to store for when students have sessions with them. Thanks to your generosity I am able to keep supply my student with the necessary protection. I am able to keep them 6 feet part from one another with the floor signs. During sessions I am able to provide students with their own mini hand sanitizer.

Again I want to thank you for helping me keep my student safe from covid.

  • Uniforms and Hygiene Products for a Cause!

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

One of the most critical things you can do to maintain classroom hygiene is to teach your students about the important of staying healthy. It may be difficult for young students to keeping up with good hygiene when there is very little to eat at their homes. But thanks, the generous donors who have graciously funded my project I have been able to address certain issues regarding this matter.

When students received their little care package they were delighted and very happy. They showed so much gratitude towards the goodies and many showed appreciation by hugging me and asking about the donors.

With the hygiene bags my students are able to concentrate a little more on their education.”

  • An iPad is an Intersection of Technology and Reading!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Having the iPad integrated in my guidance lesson is an amazing way to deliver curriculum. The students engage actively participating in every single part of the lesson. I have been able to create a virtual fair and a blog site that included short video presentations of teachers explaining their courses, the required materials, and how students could contact them directly with questions. I am working on sharing a recommended reading list and and my favorite school counseling resources with students.

The iPad has been beneficial because i have been able to assist students with a number of academic, social, and life goals and there are many apps for that.

Again, I want to thank you for your generosity!”

My students are children that face many challenges at home and at school. They are going through many changes emotionally as well as mentally and physically. Many times they feel misunderstood, and do not act in an appropriate manner. Others have self esteem issues and often feel despair and shame. Many children struggle with feeling isolated, different. Some experience intense anxiety in school or social situations.
