A Colorful Journey Ahead
Funded Aug 14, 2024It has been a wonderful start to the 2024-25 school year in Room 13 thanks to your donations! Students were greeted with a lovely bulletin board with their names as we make a "colorful pack" in second grade! Teachers are implementing new curriculum in Math and Phonics and many of the resources are helping with that implementation.
We are beginning to get back to where we were Pre-Covid; however, our theme this year is to "persevere" especially during the difficult struggles. These books, "Still I Fly" and "Perseverance Makes Me Stronger" allow children to see that "we can do it" if we try hard, do our best and show great effort!
STEAM activities in the morning are the highlight of my student's day! They love building, working together and problem solving through rotations. I can't thank you enough for your donations that have made a smooth transition into Room 13! My students are happy learners and excited to come to school each day! It has been a great year so far and I look forward to more fun and learning from my students.”

Funded May 8, 2024I can't thank you enough for making this project come to life! This life-size version of Connect Four is being enjoyed by many students...and adults at our elementary school! My second graders were the first to use before we placed it in a more centralized location to be enjoyed by many.
It was interesting to see the kids that have never played this game and watch their peers teach them how! The team playing and problem solving was cool as the kids worked together to achieve a common goal. Lots of thinking and problem solving goes into playing this game.
Connect Four has been important for those young students needing motor breaks or to get their minds off of difficulties they may be having not related to the classroom. Some teachers use this as a reward for students reaching goals in the classroom. We decided to put it outside in the garden area for many of our elementary students to enjoy. Our afterschool program uses it with their kids for afternoon fun! Thank You Again!!!”

Funded Aug 2, 2023Well, the 2023-2024 academic school year is under way and Room 13 is off to a great start! THANKS to ALL OF YOU who supported my project! Reading has always been at the forefront of our students learning! These rotating bookshelves have enhanced my students book shopping to allow more independence as well as communication with their book partner when deciding on types of books to read! They can browse the many different selections that I have in my classroom and make informed decisions when choosing Just Right Books! My kids just love how they can see the pictures and if feels like they are in the "Stepney library."
My curtains have been a huge hit for other educators who stopped by to see different classroom arrangements prior to the start of school. I received so many compliments on the curtains and the magnetic curtain rods made this possible! I started a new trend at Stepney school with making our classrooms more comfortable and inviting. Between the rotating bookshelves and the curtains Room 13 is the place to be!!!
I am grateful for the opportunity to change up my classroom through the support of generous donors like YOU!”

Funded Aug 10, 2022It is with heartfelt gratitude that I thank you for supporting my project that my students are enjoying this school year! Reading is fundamental and with enjoyable titles of books that help teach concepts, along with lessons and morals it makes it AWESOME! Flashlight Fridays have helped to build students confidence in reading for enjoyment. They look forward to it each week, and wish everyday was Fun Flashlight Friday!!! Many of the things I do in my classroom would not be possible without your generous and kind support for my students. We are extremely grateful for all you have given to us! These resources will continue to make any of the students who pass through Room 13 lucky to have the many resources that enhance their learning! Thank you again! Happy Thanksgiving!”

Funded Dec 1, 2021I can't thank you enough for supporting my classroom project! The materials to keep my classroom more organized and engaged for my students are WONDERFUL!!! Our classroom library has bins now full of books with easy access for my kids! Our book display features all kinds of read alouds for the students to choose from.
When calling my kids to small group learning these rainbow stools work perfectly. They also can be moved around the room to allow different places to work. Students love using them and they can easily be stored under the tables to keep my classroom open for student movement throughout the day!
I appreciate and I am so grateful to your generosity in supporting my classroom, my students, and me! We are a very lucky bunch in Room 13! We work hard and we are learning many new things! I could not do what I do without the support from generous donors like YOU!!! Thank You Again!”

Funded Sep 7, 2021STEAM activities that my students participate in are the highlight of my day! The enthusiasm, student engagement, and excitement for learning and growing is apparent in my classroom as the day starts! These resources are so effective when asking students to create with no blueprint and that there is no right or wrong answer...I love as a teacher watching the magic happen and to see how their young minds work.
I can't thank you enough for donating to my grant so that my students, and students around the building, can share in working together, sharing ideas, and simply having fun! These STEAM building activities foster social emotional learning as well as independent thinkers. Students need to problem solve independently or with each other when creating!
Thank you again for your generosity and kindness!”

Funded Aug 19, 2021I can't thank you enough for helping my students get the seat cushions when we had no rug. Covid has brought new guidelines and these cushions have been a life saver! The kids use them when they are called to meeting, when they go off and read independently or are doing small group work. At times, they sit on them while at their seat or use as a nice back rest. What lucky kids.
These cushions can be wiped down just like their desk tops and chairs to keep germs away. They have been a lovely addition to our classroom and the kids are enjoying them thoroughly!
Thank you so much for your donations and for supporting my mission to give my students what they need. I can't thank you enough for your kindness and generosity!”

Small Group Learning at the Dry Erase Table
Funded May 4, 2021I apologize for the delay in saying thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping support my project! A dry erase table was the highlight of my year...last year! The kids were so engaged while learning using this table.
Dry erase tables allow for students to work in small groups, solve math problems, practice spelling words, or just drawing for fun at recess! I am grateful to have this tool in my classroom as it supports learning and the curriculum making lesson more fun and engaging.
Unfortunately, I was unable to get the larger table I desired, but I was able to supplement and add some STEAM activities for the class to use. I am looking forward to a new year and for my students to enjoy for many years to come. Thanks you for your kindness and generosity! Lisa”

Funded Mar 16, 2021I apologize for the delay in getting this out to all of you! As I began to set up my classroom library for the year ahead I was so excited to put up my display of diverse books back up and ready for use! They are valuable tools as they allow students from different backgrounds, countries, religions etc. to experience seeing themselves in these books.
Reading is at the forefront of our curriculum and being able to enhance the curriculum with chapter books and picture books that celebrate all of us is something I am grateful for!
I can't thank you enough for your generosity and kindness! My students are a lucky bunch of kids and these books will be enjoyed for years to come! Thanks again! Lisa”
