I am the teacher of a self-contained autism classroom for students in grades 6-8 in South Philadelphia. Almost 100% of the students in my school are economically disadvantaged and it is often difficult to obtain materials needed to help them succeed. In my classroom, I have 8 students. Each one of them has their own unique personality and passion. Some of the students in my classroom have faced hardships or have dealt with tragedy, so it is my job to make my classroom a happy and safe place for them.
