Laughter is the Best Medicine!
Funded Apr 16, 2010Thank you so much for your donation! My students were so thrilled when our new books arrived. They literally couldn't wait to get their hands on them. Who knew some comics and humorous fiction would get kids so excited to read?!? We actually had to create a wait list for some of the books. WOW!
My students and I are always on the lookout for "sophisticated" words. You wouldn't believe how many students discovered the sophisticated words in the comics. Through your donation, my students got a good laugh and increased their vocabularies.
Future students will have access to these humorous books for years to come. Your generosity may have just sparked a student's love of reading. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! ”

Books For Beginning Readers
Funded Dec 9, 2009Thank you so much for your donation for beginning level books. My beginning readers were thrilled when a package of books arrived that was at their independent reading levels.
As my students have had more access to texts that match their personal interests and reading levels, they have began to read more willingly and often. As we all know, the more you practice, the better you become. These students are really starting to show some growth with their reading and confidence.
It is my hope that these students will see the joy of reading and will make reading a lifelong habit. Your generosity has made an impact on many beginning readers for years to come. Thank you once again for your kindness!”

We're Fact Finders!
Funded May 9, 2009Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students absolutely LOVE the books and are excited to share all the new information they are learning.
When the books arrived, my students were so thrilled to learn that "strangers" care about them and want them to become lifelong readers. Your support amazes me also. Seeing that others care about our classroom really makes my students and I feel valued.
I have a group of girls that have formed a "Health Club." They meet during their independent reading time and gather information about their bodies (using the books that you donated). Thanks to your donation, you may have inspired a group of students to become future nurses, doctors or researchers.
Thank you again for your kindness and generosity.”

Bring on the "Boy" Books!
Funded Aug 10, 2009Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students (boys and girls) were so excited to get their hands on these "boy" books. While I selected the books because I knew that many of my boys would appreciate the bathroom humor, comics and adventure stories, I was sure that some girls would enjoy the stories also. I was completely overwhelmed with how excited all of my students were to read the texts.
The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series has been a huge hit within the classroom. As I read the series, I found myself often laughing aloud and I knew that was why the students were so eager to read the next book in the series. Your donation has most definitely turned some of my most reluctant readers into life-long readers (I mean, who doesn't love a little bathroom humor?!?).
Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Fairly Odd Fairy Tales
Funded Aug 13, 2009Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students were so excited when the package of mixed-up fairy tales arrived. The students were so eager to get their hands on the new texts. I've read many of the "fractured" tales during read aloud and my students loved making comparisons to the the "real" tales.
The mixed-up fairy tales are at a variety of reading levels, so almost all of my students have access to the texts at their independent reading levels. I've found that by providing high-interest books at the students independent reading levels really help them fall in love with reading. Thank you for making this possible!
Again, your generosity is greatly appreciated. Thank you for supporting our class' goal of becoming life-long readers!”

Where in the World Are We?
Funded May 13, 2008Thank you so much for your donation. I am so grateful for your generosity. The proposal is now fully funded and the globes will be arriving at the beginning of next school year. My current students are extremely jealous that next year's students will be the first ones to use the new globes. I've promised my current group that if they continue to work hard, they will be allowed to visit and use the interactive globes. Your kindness really makes us feel appreciated and supported.
I look forward to using the globes to help lead us on our world tour. This year's tour is off to a great start; the students are learning a lot and are becoming aware of the many customs and cultures of the world. I am eager to incorporate the globes in our lessons. They will really enrich our learning!
Thanks again! You have made our day!
Sincerely,
Miss P & Appreciative 4th Grader”

Pockets to Pack with Books
Funded Sep 18, 2008Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Once again I am blown away by your generosity! My students will be thrilled to have a new place to house their books. Many of my students do not have any personal space within their homes to create a mini-library. Now with the chair pockets, the students will be able to have their own personal libraries right at their fingertips! I am also thrilled that they will become more organized. Thank you for caring about us. It really means a lot to me that our classroom is so supported by others within the community.
Thank you again,

Around the World in Six Months
Funded Feb 16, 2008Thank you so much for funding our project. My students will be so thrilled to know that new books are coming our way.
Earlier this year, we focused on life in Japan and they were so eager to learn! The students were better able to make connections to the stories that we were reading because they were more familiar with the customs and culture of Japan. I am so excited to receive the resources to explore the world with my students. I believe that it is really going to benefit the students for years to come!
Since we have less than six months remaining in our school year, my current group of students will travel through the world in record time (roughly 3 months). I look forward to next year when we will have six months to dive in deeper and really embrace the cultural differences around the world.
Thank you again for being so generous. Your kindness has brightened the lives of many students.
Thank you,
Lizzie P and Student”
