  • Color Copier

    Funded Oct 20, 2010

I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for funded our color printer! I am so excited to use this in my classroom. So often, students create projects and are disappointed by the final result. Using a color printer will really help bring our class projects to life.

Also, this printer will help for students who have vision problems. If something can be enlarged and the color scheme changed, this can really make the handout easier to view.

Again, we really appreciate everything you all have done for us.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Zeglin

  • But I Hate to Read...

    Funded Oct 21, 2010

Thank you so much for all of the wonderful books. Students especially LOVED the Bluford High Series. I can not keep these books on the shelf! I was able to replace a few very "well-loved" copies that were falling apart.

Students still cannot get over the fact that people donated to our project. They keep asking me, "Who gave money? Why would they give to us?" These students are certainly pleased and shocked that these great books came in. Almost the entire list of books has been checked out already.

Thank you again for all you have done!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Zeglin

  • 40 Book Challenge

    Funded Oct 17, 2010

Thank you for all of your generous donations! I am so excited to get all of these wonderful books for students. I told them about it today and they were all really anxious to get the books. It is so nice to feel like I now have people out there supporting us in our dream of meeting our "40 Book Challenge." I know that it is no small sacrifice for all of you to take the time out of your day and money out of your wallet to think of us.

I want to again thank you! You have really made a big difference to "our" students. Creating life-long readers benefits us all in that they will learn and grow so much more.

    You are the best!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Zeglin

  • How Do You Spell "Electronic Dictionary"?

    Funded Oct 1, 2010

What is the definition of thanks? For me, it is the feeling of being overwhelmed with gratitude. I cannot thank you all enough for taking the time to donate to our project.

We received the electronic dictionaries last week. We opened them up right away and students just jumped into using them. They are actually showing me many of the "cool" features like seeing foreign words. Right away, students started making connections between words in different languages. They are really thinking about where words came from and how we can use them today.

During class, the dictionaries are already helping students improve their comprehension. They are looking up multiple words while reading. I've even noticed students jotting down the definition in their notebooks without prompting!

Another really nice thing to notice how well students are sharing the dictionaries. They are passing them on so that everyone has a turn to use them each class period. Also, I've been amazed at how smoothly they do this. The dictionaries have created a buzz throughout the whole school. A student on our news crew did an article and now everyone is stopping in to "check out" these dictionaries.

Again, we all really appreciate your help. You've taken something difficult (like looking up words) and turned it into something fun and education! ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Zeglin

  • Rapid Readers

    Funded Feb 26, 2010

I just wanted to thank a minute to thank you for your very generous donations of books.

It is difficult to express how terrific it has been to receive this shipment of books. Students still cannot believe that people "in this economy" would give their own money to provide them with books. They keep saying, "I can't believe people would give us books who don't even know us." Your generosity has shocked and humbled us all.

Students were asking to sign out the books before they were out of the box from Barnes and Nobles. Several have already finished and are now on a second book! One boy told me that Diary of a Wimpy Kid was the only book that he ever finished. Another girl has been wanting to read The Lightning Thief all school year but just got it, thanks to you!

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. These books will give many hours of pleasure and truly instill a love of reading in each student.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Zeglin

  • Reading Rainbow

    Funded Jan 9, 2009

Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students and I will read and enjoy these books for years to come.

When I first came to the DonorsChoose.Org website, I never believed that someone would choose my proposal for funding. I spent a lot of time compiling a list of books that I knew my students would love to read. Now, my dream has come true. Thank you for helping me in my goal of helping children love to read. This is the greatest gift we can give them”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Zeglin
