Ready to Read
Funded Mar 30, 2017We cannot thank you enough for bringing these amazing books to our classroom. The students were so excited to see hit novels like The Glittering Court and the Ripley's Special Edition. Some students struggle in finding books they like, yet in this collection there is something for everyone. We are currently studying slavery and reading about it in language arts. Many students have expressed interest in reading Chains, which is a fictional account of the topic. As a class, we will read excerpts of Nobody Gonna Turn Me 'Round: Stories and Songs of the Civil Rights Movement. Without your kindness and generosity, these learning experiences would not have been possible.”

Funded Dec 30, 2016Thank you again for supporting our Chromebook project. It has been a big help for students to have a computer to use. One use that it is getting is that students who do not have a cell phone can use it to look up and listen to unknown vocabulary words. Students often sit with a partner and share the Chromebook which also promotes social skills and develops friendships.
Other students use the Chromebook during our enrichment time to work on assignments for class. Several textbooks are online and students can read the text using the computer. Students can also check their grades and teacher websites for other materials.
One student in particular works on his artwork by logging into his Google site and accessing his scanned drawings. His is able to edit them and try them into slide shows using the Chromebook. Other students sit and watch him do this. This is just the beginning for the Chromebook. It has opened up a new world of possibilities.
We will never forget your generous donation!”

Funded Oct 13, 2015Thank you so much for bringing this project for life.
It is wonderful to know that people care about this project and how students are learning. The Little Bits electronics set is amazing. I know that the sky is the limit for what students can do with it. The 3D printer is a whole new way to design and create. We've already opened the clay and tapes to see what can be made from them. Students are taking off with the materials in ways that we hadn't even imagined. They are making games, sculptures, scenes from our novel, and other things right out of their imagination. it is a very exciting thing to see.
None of this would have been possible if it weren't for your generous donation. Thank you for bringing this dream to life!”

21st Century Reading
Funded Sep 18, 2014It has been an amazing experience to get this project flash funded. We have been using the ipod 5 and the Samsung Galaxy daily. Right now, students are working on a biography research project. It has been such a help for students to just be able to "google" the information they need quickly.
Also, since our social studies textbook is online, it has been amazing to access all of the features and supplementary materials online. We are using the ipod 5 to scan our library to create an automatic online check-in system. Students can also easily get on our class Edmodo and Class Dojo sites.
Thank you for bringing technology to our little corner of the world. We are still in awe of your generosity.”

Reluctant Readers No More
Funded Aug 24, 2014It is hard to describe the excitement level of starting off the school year getting boxes of brand new books and magazines! Students have been so thrilled to find that the "hottest" books around are coming directly to our class room. We open the boxes and students are immediately ready to take home each new novel to read. Several kids who have never "liked" a book have already finished a new novel and are ready for another! You made all this happen.
It is hard for students to believe that "real" people donated money for us to get new books to read. This shows students how there are generous people out there and also how important reading is. Encouraging the love of reading is a priceless gift. Without all of you, we would not be experiencing this now.
Thank you so much! You are truly amazing.”

Funded Jan 10, 2013Thank you so much for funding this magazine project. We received our sample pack of magazines yesterday. Students had a great time flipping through these and deciding which articles to read. Each magazine is full of interesting articles with fascinating pictures. The best part is that all of the articles are accessible to students. This opens up a world of knowledge to them.
I already had several students beg to take a magazine home. Of course, the answer is yes. One student wanted to share two articles with her dad and one with her younger brother! Another student stated that this is the only magazine he ever wanted to read-ever! Teachers were also interested in reading these magazines and sharing articles with their classes.
You made all of this possible! For that, no words of thanks are enough!”

Fill Our Buckets
Funded Apr 2, 2013It is such an honor to be able to write this letter. When the box of books arrived, students were very eager to see what was inside. When we started looking and they noticed that the topic of the books was bullying, many said, "We need that!" The mix of fiction and non-fiction books really meant that there was a book of interest for everyone. I saw groups of two and three sitting around and sharing the books. Students were also interested in who donated money toward the books. They were so amazed that people cared about them and how they treated others.
Thank you for the interesting and informative books. Also, thank you for caring about our classroom!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Zeglin
Rabid Readers
Funded Nov 16, 2012I cannot think you enough for funding our book project. As a language arts teacher, encouraging a love of reading is the most important thing I can do. You have made this a reality with your generous donation to our classroom. Students eagerly awaited the arrival of "our books." They started a waiting list to "claim" the first book that they wanted to read. It is not every day that these students are given a brand-new book to take home and read. Some students even put three or four on the list. I usually keep most of the books in the box until we take our photos. However, a few students just couldn't wait and promised to take home the books and bring them back for the pictures.
Thank you for all you have done to promote reading and help us form a classroom community. We really appreciate it! You have made my holiday season great! Thank you for all you have done.”

Funded Nov 16, 2011kindnesscyberbullyingcyberbullyingThis is an easy letter to write! Thank you so much for donating to this project on bullying. Our first box of books arrived right after our grade level heard a speaker on cyberbullying. We flipped open the first book and there was more information on a case that the speaker had discussed. We stopped everything and read about how cyberbullying can affect lives. Students found out more information that they were wondering about and more tips for practical solutions to modern day bullying.
Although all of the books are wonderful, we also started a new project based on the Fill a Bucket book. We read the book about kind social interaction, created a bulletin board, and are now "bucket fillers." We are hearing more support, positive comments, and communication on a daily basis. It's like we can all visualize what kindess looks like thanks to one small book. I could not ask for more!
Thank you!”

Funded Jan 6, 2011Thank you so much for bringing this Nook Color to our classroom. It has really been an awesome experience to see students reading and exploring on this piece of technology. Not only are students able to explore new genres but they can look up words instantly. This is increasing students' vocabularies and the way they learn.
Another cool thing about the Nook Color is that it opens students eyes to new ways to interact and appreciate words. It has been a very positive experience. Thank you all so much for your kindness!”
