Funded Nov 23, 2020Thank you for your contribution to our "Art Therapy at Home" project! My 5th graders were very excited to receive their art supplies and start using them! Since we received the materials during distance learning, I was able to pass them out when we distributed school supplies to them. They were able to have their art supplies at home and use them during our ZOOM class, or simply when they felt like having fun! Some were even able to use them in class when we started returning to in-person learning.
My students particularly enjoyed working with the watercolors. They were able to create pieces that were meaningful to them, as well as learn about different watercolor techniques. One project that they particularly enjoyed was creating an art piece and then writing a haiku (a Japanese poem) that described their art. They were so excited to share their art and writing pieces with their peers!
Overall, the art supplies made a big impact on my students. Students who loved art were ecstatic to receive new art media and were ready to teach others about it. My students who had previously not enjoyed art, ended up loving it and I saw, first-hand, the impact it had on their confidence as an artist.
Thank you again for your generous contribution. You made an impact in the lives of these 5th graders.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Mendoza
