  • Let's Read: Stories and Storytelling!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for providing my students with the collection of folk tales and fairy tales along with the storytelling kit to support retelling and revising by English learners.

The multicultural Cinderella stories have been especially popular. My students seem to enjoy the parallel plots from different versions around the world. We are also enjoying the Rapunzel tale. Who doesn't like a story in which magic and love overcome the best efforts of a witch to derail a young couple's destiny?

Thank you again for your generosity. Your gift is much appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Livingstone

  • Let's Read! Getting Started

    Funded Nov 25, 2022

Thank you so much for providing my students with this collection of simple, easy-to-read, first books in English.

These glossy little books are filled with key English vocabulary. With the science, math, and social studies topics, they provide lots of opportunities for students to learn the words they need to build academic skills in middle school as they are mastering a new language. These books are a great first step for students who are new to the country.

Thank you again for your generous donation. Your gift is making a real difference.”

  • Let's Read! Building a Classroom Library

    Funded Nov 25, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting the learners in my classroom by providing this collection of colorful and appealing nonfiction books. These texts are engaging to middle school students who are learning to read, some for the first time, and learning a new language.

We've got these new books spread across two table tops in our classroom. It is impossible for students to walk past these books without something catching their eye! With books about snakes and wolves, sharks and mummies, we've got something for just about everyone to read.

Your kind gift has added immensely to our classroom. Thank you again for your generosity.”

  • Let's Read! Easy Reader Nonfiction

    Funded Nov 25, 2022

Thank you so much for providing my students with a collection of appealing, easy-to-read, engaging nonfiction with lots of picture support. These books are exactly what my students need to build vocabulary and reading endurance as they master a new language and learn about the world.

Sharks and snakes, mummies and wolves---what could be more fun to learn about?! Thanks to your generous donation, my students have a great many reading choices. Everyone in the class can find something interesting to read, and when reading choices are available, everyone becomes a reader.

Thank you again for your kind support. We appreciate it.”

  • Let's Read! Award-Winning Picture Books

    Funded Nov 25, 2022

Our classroom is full of appealing new books, thanks to your generous donation!

We've run out of shelf space and began spreading our picture book collection across tabletops. It's a wonderful way to see the colorful covers of this books, and it inspires students to pick up something to read as they walk into the room. With a variety of different books in the collection, there is something for everyone to read.

Thank you again for donating to our classroom. Learning to love reading is such an important part of becoming a strong student. Your gift is helping to make that happen.”

  • Let's Read! Shark Books

    Funded Dec 15, 2022

Thank you so much for donating this collection of books about sharks to our classroom.

Sharks are such engaging creatures. They come in such variety, but they are all very interesting to learn and read about. A collection of books like the ones you funded can turn even the most reluctant older nonreader into an avid reader for life.

Thank you so much again for providing my students with the opportunity to fall in love with both sharks and with reading! These books make possible growth in language that will have a profound impact on my students' lives and futures.”

  • Hissing Cockroaches and Carnivorous Plants!

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

Thank you so much for providing my students with a collection of carnivorous plants and some live giant hissing Madagascar cockroaches.

Cockroaches may not be the first classroom pet to come to mind, but they have been a pleasant and interesting addition to our classroom. The Covid-related masking requirement does make communication a touch more challenging, particularly in a classroom of newcomer English language learners. It turned out that many of my students had been waiting on giant KISSING Madagascar cockroaches, although they were impressed by the hissing of our new insects and adjusted quickly.

We enjoyed taking a quick outside break to collect crickets for our Venus flytraps. In a year of so many stresses and challenges, it has been so nice to enjoy some simple outside time searching for insects to feed our plants.

    Thank you again.”

  • Morning Tubs: Color and Create!

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so much for providing us with exciting new materials to use in our Morning Tubs! The hands-on materials and art supplies have added so much to our early morning launch to the school day.

The Magna-Tiles have been particularly popular with students. They are easy to use, quick to clean up, and so flexible. Watching my young teens get excited over their Magna-Tile creations has persuaded me that I need to implement more LEGO and other building supplies into our school day.

Thank you again for your support.”

  • Graphic Novels: A Reader's Feast!

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so much for providing my students with an exciting new collection of graphic novels for our independent reading time!

Graphic novels are among the most popular reading choices in my classroom, and my students are always asking me to get more of them. With this varied selection of new books, I will be able to keep my students happily reading for weeks. We've got new realistic fiction, some mystery, a little sci fi, and lots of scary books. With graphic novels like these, it will be a breeze to keep my students reading.”

  • Financial Literacy: Morning Tubs!

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so much for providing my students with some fun and engaging learning activities for our start to the day. These supplies have given my students something to do together as they warm up for the start of the instructional day; having something to do together is very important in rebuilding key social skills.

The Magna-Tiles have been especially popular. They are easy to use, quick to clean up, and very versatile.

Thank you again for your generous support. We appreciate all that donors do for the students and for learning in our school.”
