  • Light Table Math!

    Funded Mar 21, 2024

I initially thought the light tables would be used to teach math in my classroom and although we have used them for math we've been able to use them for so much more.

The light tables have made our learning more beautiful and inviting across all subjects and its thanks to your generous donation that we have access to these materials.

In math we explored shapes and counting In literacy with explored letters and words. In science we explored artifacts from the natural world.

I can't wait to see what other fun and engaging ways we put these beautiful materials to work and we thank you for supporting our learning!”

  • Read Through Play!

    Funded Dec 31, 2023

Watching my students transform from passive readers to active readers has been amazing. Childrenlearn best through experience and play and thanks to you they have the materials that help them engage in this type of learning. They now have access to multi-sensory tools to help them learn the letter sounds through play and exploration .

Having different types of multi-sensory tools has also helped give my students different options to approach learning sounds and how to read. Students know what they like and what they can and cannot do and its great to let them be leaders of their own learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Colon

  • Beautiful Spaces = Beautiful Experiences

    Funded Oct 30, 2023

Having beautiful materials to learn and play with has made learning more purposeful in our classroom. Students have cozy places that are inviting to share a book with a friend or to just dive into a book alone. Students don't feel like they are doing work because everything is beautiful, inviting and joyful.

Students are able to use the toys and props to reenact some of the stories and concepts we've read and learned about in class. They also get to act as experts in their field of study and consider themselves "botanists" , "meteorologist" and "authors".”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Colon

This classroom project was brought to life by Equitable Foundation.
  • Classroom or Garden? Both!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Having plants and plant play in our classroom has completely transformed our classroom to a brighter, earthier and homier place. Students love the plants and take a lot of pride in caring for them. Students independently schedule how often the plants get water and who takes a turn watering it. They are also getting to apply their learning on plants and trees to care for their plants.

Students are able to use the plays to reenact some of the stories we've read and to experience things that we can't experience because we are an urban school.”

    Ms. Colon
