Summer Virtual PDs for Me
Funded Jul 20, 2021Thanks for helping me provide a Microsoft Surface Go 2 and keyboard to participate and provide professional development for my school site. Prior to receiving these items, my school-issued laptop would overheat and crash when Zoom sessions were utilized for long periods of time. This would cause me to go into panic mode because it would happen during a professional development and I would lose engagement from the participants. Now with my new Microsoft Surface I am able to virtual present without any issues and able to annotate in real-time with the participants. Thank you!”

Funded Oct 9, 2019The Chromebooks have completely changed the atmosphere in the classroom. About half of the students bring their own personal device that leaves me scrambling calling other teachers to see if they have the laptop cart. With the project funded, this allowed me to eliminate that tedious step and continue instruction in my room. I will admit, I have students who purposely "forget" their electronic device at home to avoid work, but with the additional Chromebooks - those students are able to complete the assignment ; )”

Funded Apr 8, 2019Thank you for helping me provide a document camera for my students. It has greatly improved the communication with my classes. For starters, I'm a visual learner and I'm quite sure a majority of my students are in the same boat with me. With the document camera, I've been able to visually model how to annotate a text. This was extremely helpful when I modeled how it should look and what I expect from them. Also, when I'm going over SAT grammar practice with my reading students, visually modeling the strategies to approach the test has increased their motivation for the Oct test. With my Promethean Board not working properly, having the document camera has truly helped this ELA teacher tremendously!”

Funded Sep 17, 2018Thank you for providing me with the opportunity to give my students a better education. We all very much appreciate your donations and we look forward to incorporating the magazines into our curriculum. My students have informed me of how much they love the magazines and wish to receive more knowledge from the articles. Several of my students have some difficulties with reading; however, with these articles they do not struggle as much as they would with books of a higher reading level.
In my classroom, students are encouraged to read above their reading level, despite some difficulties. Yet, they still feel motivated to improve; this has changed the atmosphere of my classroom. They no longer feel pressurized to read something they cannot understand. These periodicals have introduced them to new vocabulary and improve grammar, skills that they are now using in the classroom. They are now participating more, students who never used to raise their hands and now first to speak in class discussions; and seeing this fills me with pride.”

My Reading Nook is Nonexistent
Funded Oct 10, 2018Thank you to our donors who have donated the bookmarks, bean bags, and novels. The students are really enjoying the books. They are more engaged and have become excited to come into the classroom to sit on the bean bag chairs and read their books. Now when you walk into my classroom, you see all the kids reading all around the room. You see them really understanding the text and connecting with the characters. They have become more interactive and I can already see how much their reading has improved.
We want to give you so many thanks for all that you have done. You have really touched the lives of these kids. Many have connected with the character Melinda, from Speak and all her problems. Now that they feel that the classroom is a more comfortable and safe place to express themselves, I can really see their exceptional potential. We are currently learning to identify motifs and find their meanings, and we have previously learned how to identify Melinda's perspective of high school through her actions.
We thank you for giving our students an opportunity to be moved by a book. They have really been able to relate to this teenager and her lifestyle. They have been able to see themselves in her position and feel what she's feeling. Also, here are a couple of pictures of our students enjoying what you have given them:”

Thank you so much for helping my students to get new desktops. This has been extremely for their reading program so they can access the online portion of the course. Reading is essential in being successful. With your generous contribution, my students can access their digital programs in their reading class and improve their literacy skills. You really have helped my students and I want to thank you for giving them more digital tools so they can achieve success.
Thank you!!!”
