  • Replacing Lost Favorites

    Funded May 23, 2023

Your help replacing these books is such a huge help to our library. I've always believed that when books are lost, it's often because they're needed elsewhere. I still believe this, but it's disheartening when it happens so often, and students are left frustrated and disappointed when they want that specific book that's found a new home. With your generous donations, those holes on the shelves are filled back in, and the library is better prepared to meet the needs and desires of our voracious readers.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. White

  • Scoring Sports Fiction

    Funded Apr 9, 2023

Thank you again!!! I’m so excited to add these titles to my Sports Fiction section, and I know I have LOTS of students who will be delighted (even if they work hard to hide it) with the increased selection available to them. In our library, the sports fiction one every looks full during the summer, so additional resources there are going to go a long, long way.”

  • Poster & Project Craft Crate

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

Thank you again for your generosity. The supplies we purchased will be instrumental in our students' creative expression when they need to make posters and other large-scale projects. So often, we offer our kids some big paper and a pack of markers, and hope for the best. Now? We get to provide them with SO MANY MORE tools. No more making do with what we can scrounge up here or borrow from an art teacher, no more crossing fingers that some of the kids can bring their own colored pencils. Instead, teachers can check out the crate and open up a world of possibilities for their students. We are forever appreciative of that.”

  • Brave the Page: A NaNoWriMo Book Club

    Funded Nov 5, 2021

Our books have arrived, and our writing club couldn't be more excited. We are working with teenagers who have so many stories to tell, who are thrilled with the step-by-step approach that "Brave the Page" offers. The club right now is reading the book without actually writing along, since the text is designed to be a tool used during National Novel Writing Month, in November. Next fall, we'll reconvene and push up our sleeves in preparation for the real thing, and then hit the ground running when it's time to finally start our novels.

Again, we are over the moon about these books and the opportunity for success they'll provide.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. White

  • Filling Up Our Classroom Library

    Funded Mar 8, 2017

A belated thank you all for love. My students LOVED the books - almost all of them went out the same week we got them, and the interest in those titles continued even after that school year. Any time we can find books students want to read, everyone wins.

With these titles, many students had an easier time during silent reading. While many of my readers already loved this part of class, some felt like they'd run out of interesting titles available in our building, whether from the school library or my own classroom shelves. The infusion of titles was exactly what we needed.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. White

I believe in reading. I believe that all my students are readers and can find a book they can love. My students are eating up books faster than I can find new ones. As they read these novels and non-fiction texts of their own choosing, they're strengthening their reading chops. With more choices, my students will become stronger and stronger independent readers, which means they are better equipped to succeed as they move through high school and into their career or post-secondary studies.
