  • Help Us Listen to Learn

    Funded Nov 30, 2024

Thank you for your generosity and kindness. I am so appreciative of your dedication to my students.

Their new headphones are making such a difference in the way they learn. They are more focused, their work is not disturbing those around them and they are able to learn more because there are fewer distractions.

The headphones are the perfect size for first graders, they are not only comfortable but durable. Our previous headsets broke easily on were not easily adjustable to fit their little heads. These are just perfect!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Collins

  • A Gathering Spot for Collaboration!

    Funded Nov 18, 2024

I can not even begin to tell you how much we appreciate your generosity and our new rug! It has made such a difference to the overall feeling in our room. It has made our classroom so much more welcoming to have a clean space for us to teach from and learn on!

Each student now has a more defined space for sitting and learning. They each have their own personal and generous space and this has solved so many classroom management issues. Each student has enough space to not only sit but read and use any necessary materials.

I am so grateful for your kindness and generosity. You have made a difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Collins

  • Listening Power

    Funded May 7, 2024

My students and I would like to thank you for your generosity. Technology pays a big part in our learning in all curriculum areas. In science we utilize programs that help us with research, in math we learn to persevere while solving challenging math concepts and in literacy, we listen to on-line literature and practice our reading and phonics skills.

You can imagine how hard it is to focus on these important skills when each child in the room is working and listening to work on their devices at the same time.

With these headphones students are able to stay focused while working individually and independently without being distracted by the devices of the students around them.

There has been a noticeable difference on the student's ability to focus and stay on task. Again, we thank you for helping my students learn through your kindness and willingness to help children.”

  • Indoor Fun When It's Too Wet to Play

    Funded Mar 27, 2024

My students were so excited when I took out our new indoor recess materials! Usually my students spend indoor recess coloring or watching a read-aloud story on our classroom white board.

Now they are engaged in playing board games, playing with kinetic sand and learning to spell with Banagrams! Not only are they having fun, but they are engaging in learning that feels like play.

The skills they are gaining from playing with these materials are invaluable. They are learning to share, to be good winners and knowing that having fun is what's important when they lose.

Thank you for your generosity and kindness!”

  • Ready to Write!

    Funded Nov 26, 2023

Thank you for your generosity and care for my students. First graders are often reluctant writers. They love to draw, but when it comes to putting words on paper they often think it's too hard. I wanted to find a way to spark their interest in writing by providing them with materials that would make them want to write.

These new materials have done just that. With colorful pencils, markers and paper that support their writing development they now love to write.

They were so happy when I revealed their new writing center with ways to organize their writing with folders and supply trays. They couldn't wait to dig in and often choose the writing center during choice time!”

  • Water, Water Everywhere!

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

Thank you for your generosity. My students are engaging in an experience they wouldn't normally have if it wasn't for you!

The water and sand table is providing an alternate, hands on experience for learning letters and sounds, number recognition, measurement and science as we learn about matter and volume.

Students are eager for their turn at the table and have found a variety of ways to engage by hunting for letters or numbers in various mediums. Not only are we filling the table with water and sand, but filling it with rice, and water beads to provide other hands on experiences for learning.”

  • Hands on Playing and Learning!

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you for your generosity during these challenging times. We have been back to in-person learning since late November and although we are thrilled to see those smiling faces each day it has not been easy. Students are unable to share materials and must stay in their own 6 foot "bubble". We needed play materials that could be used individually but also be engaging and fun! With the funds you provided we were able to purchase and create individual sets of both Kinetic Sand and Legos. These materials have provided my students with countless hours of play and creativity. It has made all the difference in being able to provide quality play materials that are durable and fun.

Students ask daily "When is it Lego time?" "When can I play with my sand?" Those materials have been a bright spot during a very challenging time. I and they truly appreciate your kindness.”

  • Our Socially Distant Kinder-Garden!

    Funded May 7, 2020

I am so grateful for your generosity. During our school's shut down due to Covid-19 we struggled with ways to engage our students in remote learning. Students learn best with hands on experiences, but we were unable to provide the experiences we normally would, at least in the traditional way. We have a beautiful raised bed garden on our school property, where kids weed, plant and tend during the spring and are able to take pride in watching those seeds grow into something amazing. We live and learn in an urban school district and many of our students just don't have access to these types of experiences at home.

I wanted to bring the experience of planting a garden to my students virtually. With the materials purchased with your donations I was able to recreate our school raised bed garden in my backyard. I recorded lessons on how to plant and care for seeds and my students were able to monitor the growth of those seeds through the photos I sent to them. Once school reopens, the raised beds will be dismantled and rebuilt back on our school's campus.

Again, thank you for your generosity and for helping to bring this experience to my students.”

  • Ready Readers!

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

I am so appreciative of your generosity. Because of your willingness to help the students in my kindergarten classroom I have been able to provide my students with a variety of new reading materials for use in our daily Reader's Workshop lessons.

Children are able to access literature in both whole and small groups, in literacy centers with books on CD and with big books and leveled readers.

My students are engaged during independent reading and the big books are so helpful when giving whole group lessons. Students are able to access the reading strategies more easily in this format.

As you are aware early literacy is the key to future student success and with your help my students are one step closer to achieving my goal for them.”

  • Marvelous Math!

    Funded Aug 7, 2019

I can't thank you enough for your support of the students in my kindergarten classroom. We have implemented a new math workshop format which requires my students to work in small groups with various math materials in order to reinforce math concepts. With the materials I purchased with your funding my students have been able to engage with each other in small groups in new and creative ways.

These materials have made a difference in their willingness to work on abstract math concepts with new materials that they did not have access to before.

Thank you again for your willingness to contribute to this project, it has had a definite and positive impact on my math instruction.”
