  • First Grade Centers for Reading and Math!

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you for your kindness and generosity! Thanks to you, my students were able to have fun as they learned essential reading and math skills. Center time was something my students looked forward to with a lot of excitement because they were able to work with their classmates as they became better readers and problem solvers.

Many of my students went from being below grade level in math to writing and solving their own word problems with up to three two-digit addends. It was extremely rewarding to hear my students say, "I love math" and "I'm ready for big numbers now". I am extremely grateful because your donation brought joy to my students and allowed them to make substantial academic gains.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Isaac

  • Kid Friendly Tech Center

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

I am extremely grateful for your generous donation to my students. Because of your support, my students gained access to a countless number of digital learning platforms. They had all of the resources they needed to work towards achieving their individualized reading and math goals.

Many of my students were one year below grade level at the start of the school year. Educational apps on the iPads you provided allowed them to work on improving their encoding, decoding, fluency, and reading comprehension skills. Over time, they mastered key foundational literacy skills and gained confidence. At the end of the year, the majority of my students were at of above grade level readers!

Working at the kid friendly technology center was often the highlight of many students' day. I am proud of my students for working hard to achieve their goals and I am grateful to every donor who gave them the technological resources they needed.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Isaac

Like most early childhood learners, the highlight of my students' day is center time. When students work in small groups in centers, they are able to focus on targeted skills, engage in self-directed learning tasks, and transition to more challenging skills over time. Centers play a crucial role in securing academic gains in classrooms with learners who are at various levels because they can be customized to address specific skills. Some of the topics my students are excited about practicing in centers are: phonics (encoding & decoding), fluency, rhyming, addition, subtraction, and comparing numbers.
